NWO, Could you please post this for me, I am having trouble with my account here and would like to get the attached message posted. I will be back on as soon as BIGFAN resets my account.

Thanks,
RodeoVann

RV sent this to me and ask me to post it.

This has been a fun 24 hours, to see how things break down to the point were the G.M. of a radio station is willing to read the transcript of what Mike said and tell me that the station in no way endorses the comment made by Mike, but unwilling replay it on the air, that says a lot about what was said. I am always open for a good fight, especially when it hits home with me. Mikes comments offended me because I am married to an African American woman and have two kids’, I think it is obvious why it would be insulting to anyone, not just me. The bonus I have is that my wife is an Attorney and as she stated to me, “Mike isn’t the only one with Money and Lawyersâ€

Wow.

The station doesn't endorse his comments, they won't replay them, and North ends up walking away and smelling like a rose because you got ONE WORD wrong, and a word that doesn't really alter the offensiveness of the remark in my mind.

Well, he thinks he won and he'll probably crow about it on Monday, but that's a pretty trivial technicality to claim "victory" on. Those of us who followed this from the beginning know what really happened. More than the fact that nothing will happen to North, I feel bad for you guys having to issue an "apology" to him in the interest of protecting your families and your assets. That's what sucks the most to me.

You's guys are a bunch of pussies, for apologizing. What leverage did Mike have? The negative media attention, Mike would have received, would have killed his career. Suing listeners? How do you recover from that? None of Mike's advisors would have told him to go through with it. And you's pussies folded under pressure. Grow a pair!

I don't know what I would do in your shoes; it's easy to look at it from a safe distance and say go and fight ; we're right behind you standing far away from the fire.

What I would say the next step is to forward the comments to the media writers - with the new word inserted ( talent for intelligence) - and that management won't play the tape to let Mike defend himself.

It might be an interesting angle - we want managment to let Mike play the tape so he can defend himself - that Mike deserves the forum to truly prove he is innocent!

Mike won't do anything. He has more to lose. A lawsuit would get a lot of media attention, and all of Mike's past comments, would come to light. He would end of dropping suit because of all the negative press and paying whomever's legal bills. Doesn't he lose the "Regular guy" routine if he sues a listener for something they wrote or said?

I think he lost the "regular guy" image a long time ago. Hey Pappy, I said, I think, so it is an opinion, you can't sue me.

Why would he pay anyone's legal bills? The whole point of even filing was to make the 3 guys financially hurt by running up their bills. After doing that, then he would drop the suit. It takes a long time for these suits to even get to court.

If you have such a big pair, why don't you take it up and start writing to the sponsors and management and misquote him?

Because of all the negative press he would receive moron. Something like that would hurt Mike a lot more. That's why any of his legal advisors would tell him not to do it. I'm sure there would be some hot shot lawyer that would pick up the case pro bono. Since this isn't the first time Mike has made a comment like this, it might force the Score's hand, once the media knew about the lawsuit. But you pussies are scared of your shadow.

Better yet, now that we seem to know the correct quote, why misquote him? All those boasting a big pair (not me, I admit it) can now start the crusade over again, this time with the correct information. Isn't saying Obama's "talent" comes from his white side fairly offensive, too?

I'm kidding, of course; I think most of us have had enough of this battle. Perhaps the question is, has Mike had enough? Will he read the apologies on-air Monday and go for "total victory" including the humiliation of the vanquished? Or does he let this whole matter drop, knowing that despite technically "winning," he still did make comments that the station does not endorse and will not even replay and, as such, are probably better left to drift off into "bolivian," as Mike Tyson would say?

Besides talking out your ass, why don't you do it? You sure seem to think you know the legal system so well, go ahead. I guess you must be a pussy too.

I wasn't offended by his comments. If you are going to take up a cause, why give up at the first sign of resistance? Doesn’t that give Mike more power? Now he feels like he can scare the next guy too. What the 3 guys attempted to do was noble, but why not fight for what you believe in?

Tummy Sticks really started something. First he gets North to the board and now he gets Huebner to start posting. I'm sure he'll be fired soon Fred.

Well done Sticks.

First of all, I apologized to Mike for mis-qouting him, I never said what he said was fine with me, I dont agree with what he said. Secondly, I weighed my options and this whole thing isnt worth it, why fight with a guy who thinks he said nothing wrong, I wont change his mind and no one will, its just who he is. I can live with that.

I knew I would take some heat for this, but thats life. I will let this go because I am above it.

I'll leave discretion and valor to the rest of you then. As I said before I agree with the decision to back off considering his BS legal threats. The problem is that he still said what he said (PA admitted it), and there are plenty of people who will take this on from here, myself included. Some of you know I am in sales, and have no problem making calls to certain people who might be interested in a scumbag racist on morning sports radio.

If Mike went forward with legal threats it would give him publicity which in the industry he is in it is a good thing. In the radio game all that matters is ratings and ratings in turn turn out how much you can charge advertisers. Its like the Dennis Rodman senario.... good or bad publicity is allways good publicity.

i'm not really sure how i feel about any of this or if there is an overeaction on all involved.
is the content of what he said deplorable? Yes...

But, i don't put much weight into Mike's words anymore.....which i do know has more to do with the messenger than the message.

I am sure that this valiant, though doomed, effort reminded everyone of Lord Cardigan's doomed charge during the Crimean War Battle of Balaclava. Therefore, in honor of "The 3," with apologies to Lord Tennyson:

Half a league half a league
  Half a league onward
All in the valley of Death
Rode Tummy Ticks, Rodeo Vann (and the other guy):
'Forward, the Light Brigade
Charge for the guns' he said
Into the valley of Death
Rode Tummy Ticks, Rodeo Vann (and the other guy).

'Forward, the Light Brigade!'
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldiers knew
  Some one had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do & die,
Into the valley of Death
Rode Tummy Ticks, Rodeo Vann (and the other guy)

The Idiot to right of them,
The Idiot to left of them,
The Idiot in front of them
  Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot & shell,
Boldly they rode & well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode Tummy Ticks, Rodeo Vann (and the other guy)

When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
  All the world wonder'd.
Honour the charge they made!
Honour the Light Brigade,
Noble Tummy Ticks, Rodeo Vann (and the other guy)!

No, it won't end racism or cure society's ills, but it will get one douchebag off the airwaves who is currently occupying the one frequency alotted to Chicago sports talk in morning drive, thereby opening up said frequency to a new show that would perhaps make mornings more enjoyable for me, a Chicago sports fan. So I'm selfish; go ahead, sue me. I'm sick of sombrero-gate and DUI-gate and Chinaman-gate and now Obama-gate and probably dozens of other "gates" I'm forgetting. He's a self-centered egotist who promotes everything about him and his right-wing political views and his Rat Pack-wannabe mentality and his damn Pappyland and his hand-picked cocktail-waitress producer instead of the sports he's supposed to be covering. The sooner anyone smarter or braver than I finds a way to get rid of him, god bless you.

Rode, as I wrote to Tummy in another thread, I think this was a very mature decision.

This is Obama's fight. The best way to handle it is to let him know and wait for his reaction. Since it was a statement about a specific person, let that specific person lead the outraged charge.
