In 1978 Dan White killed San Francisco‘s mayor George Moscone and city supervisor Harvey Milk. The press labeled his defense the “Twinkie Defense” because he claimed eating sugary junk food – like Twinkies – caused diminished capacity.
False. Everyone inverts the cause and effect of the Twinkies. The Twinkie Defense was that White was an emotional wreck as evidenced by his descent from healthful living into uncharacteristically pigging out on Twinkies, which he would not do if he were fully aware of his actions. It's a little ridiculous, but not as patently ridiculous as the "he said the Twinkies made him crazy" misconception.
