While PFW could have, in our view, remained competitive in the world of new media — indeed, the publication’s “Way We Hear It” feature reflected Internet-style rumor mongering long before folks were mongering rumors on the Internet — the name itself epitomized old-media realities. “Weekly” would no longer cut it; news and analysis must be delivered in real-time via electronic means, not once per week in a publication that looked and felt more like a newspaper than a magazine.

At one point, PFW was an indispensable source of league-wide information and analysis to supplement local newspapers that focused on one team and national newspapers that provided only the most superficial information (but at least they did it in pretty colors). Put simply, times changed and PFW didn’t.

Every new-media publication should heed that warning. Times will continue to change. Those who don’t change with the times eventually will have a pile of liabilities that dwarf their assets, too
.

Ouch. Seems like Florio doesn't mind pouring some serious salt in PFW's wounds. Is there any more to the Arkush-Florio thing other than them being competitors?

Heh, heh. Listen, guys, am I happy that PFW had to end its run? No, of course, not. Well, in a way, I am, but no, but maybe. It was part of my life. It was my essence. It was my raison d'etre. And, hey, it had its up and downs. Much like coaching in the NFL. Just ask my good friend Dick Jauron. Now, the question, will I continue to be the Score's football expert? I just may. Or I may not. Heh. There's a number of factors at play here; chiefly my so-called "expertise." I'm very qualified. I played ball. Did you? I didn't think so. So fuck your mother with a broken shillelagh. Or don't. Who can say? I do like what the Chiefs did this off-season. Andy Reid is a terrific coach. A coach's coach. I may have been a year off in my prediction for the Chiefs. They have many positives and negatives. And in the end some team will win this thing. It's a crap shoot.

Florio surely didn't take the high road.
I now understand more about Hub's tone this morning. Still don't know if I truly feel sorry for him.

I guess you could call B and B diplomatic, taking the high road with Hub.
I know others would call their "new tune" a hit to their respective manhoods.

I guess he'll just be referred to as "Senior NFL Insider" now.
