This morning someone e-mailed in complaining about how when he was a kid in catholic school, they didn't eat meat on friday - any friday. Nowadays they serve meat on fridays in restaurants and schools.

Mike's reply: "It used to be our country...it's not anymore."

???

Who exactly is this "we" he's referring to?

Seroiusly, I don't know what group he's trying to identify with here. Racist blowhards?

Catholics who think that their religion is the only one.

Probably referring to the politically correct, or the people who scream the loudest, and end up getting their way.....Haven't been listening much to the show though.

Wait a second. Why would Pappy take offense on behalf of Catholics? Pappy doesn't strike me as a guy who goes to church every Sunday. So before he bitches about the way it used to be he should practice going to church. That kind of trumps the meat on Friday thing.

Pappy, good Catholics used to go to church every Sunday back in the day as well. Guess what? They still do. Do you?

Pappy - Dis country is a discrace. We'ze used to never have restaurants serve meat on Fridays.

Fred - Yeah. Hey Pappy do you go to mass every Sunday?

Pappy - Haven't been since 1976 but dats besides da point. Dis is wrong.

And besides, it has never really been the Catholics' country. Christians have always been the majority, sure, and Catholics are the largest chunk. But combined Protestants have always outnumbered them.

And only 1 president has ever been non-Protestant.

I'm wondering why somebody is wasting their time e-mailing Mike about this anyway. I don't listen much anymore, either. Did he read my e-mail about the dog across the street barking too much?

I did not hear this one, I think he was referring to some other story this week about muslim kids at a school in Oak Lawn who are offended that they serve hot dogs, etc and have Halloween. I think that was the issue, might be wrong

The Illuminati, of course.

For some reason I suspect that North actually does go to mass rather regularly.

I think he was referring to the PC Nazis in Oak Lawn.

Agreed. I didnt catch The War but I saw the director on the Daily Show and it seemed like an awesome documentary.

Generally speaking, I have found that Nazi is used much more casually on message boards than in general--usually in arguments. First person to toss the Nazi bomb is the loser.
