My national organization had their national conference at the Riviera in 2010. We stayed down at the MGM and took the monorail (What's that called?) up that way for the one thing I went to conference related. The rooms at the top that we had some conference meetings at were nice and had a nice view. But I remember some SJWs getting all bent out of shape because the hotel was advertising for their t0pless revue and they found it offensive. I'm surprised it has lasted this long. I remember going outside and seeing the sign for the Fountain Bleu opening in 2009! That part of the strip was a ghost town then and I don't know if it's any better. When we went last year we didn't go north of the Encore.

The recession halted the completion of Fountain Bleu in Vegas. There is a lot of litigation, some of which hits close to home for our insurance operations.

You were smart to stop at Encore. Nothing beyond that is worth visiting.

Havent been downtown vegas in 3 or more years, when they redid it.

Did they ever connect the monorail to it? I was shocked it stopped 4 miles short of downtown...seemed like a massive FU to those who started the place...and it was an obvious....we dont want the trash walking around our casino.

I honestly don't know. I think the whole monorail thing turned into a political albatross. It seems like Vegas turned to all those walkways over the main roads, which has made getting around a stair climbing adventure.

Doors closed yesterday. Coming down!

Only stayed there once, for a bachelor party, someone comped all our rooms....and that 1970's carpet and the console TV in The Bob Hope suite was well worth the freebie! I am sure than in its day, ot was a top place....

Wow. This saddens me. The Riv was the first place I ever stayed in Las Vegas. It certainly was a dive of late.

Nah. We like The Mirage, Mandalay Bay, & Bellagio. We have a big trade show at The Mirage next week.

Mirage is one of my favorites as I said earlier. Decent sports book, great poker room (saw Jose Canseco there and the blind poker pro), Carnegie deli, and easy in and out to strip.

Never been to Mandalay.

I don't know how I missed this, but Caesars Palace is our favorite & I love the sports book there.

No interest in Caesars. The sports book is too out in the open. The Mirage and Bellagio have them tucked in nicely. It's a subtle difference, but noticeable. Caesars does have a nice betting board.
