This has to be the stupidest thing Ive ever heard him say. He says it happens to all presidents that they get involved in conflict without enough
troops or an exit strategy so that the same thing happening to Bush in Iraq is exactly the same as Clinton in the black hawk down events. Unfortunately 2000 plus of our guys and counting are dying in Iraq while Somalia was a handful of troops. If you're going to defend Bush at least make an analogy that isnt complete shite

Gooch - I could not agree with you more on your point about North making a completely "shite" analogy - he seems to have no concept of real world events, politics, geography, or really just plain facts. However, I could not disagree with you more in terms of comparing the death tolls in Somalia to that of Iraq . . . to say you are comparing apples to oranges would be an understatement.

Truth be told, the fact that even one soldier died in the "Black Hawk Down" event is one of the worst examples of military management by a President in modern history. The fact that they died is horrible enough, but the scene of that muslim-extremist scum dragging our soldiers' bodies through their un-paved streets to this day brings huge amounts of bile to the tip of my tongue.

I'm not going to try and make this a pro-Bush, pro-Iraq war thread, and I don't think you were trying to do the opposite, but saying anything positive about Bill Clinton's use of the military (sans, MAYBE, Serbia/Kosovo) is a non-starter in my book.

I wasnt trying to make it an anti Bush post or anything political, just that North's metaphor about world events are ridiculous and he should stick to sports, something where he says stuff thats interesting. Clinton did a very bad job especially his first term in deploying the military and many would say Bush did the same. You're right the death of even one of our brave servicemen is tragic and the commander in chief should be criticized when they havent done everything in their power to protect him. Somalia ended up being a limited conflict with a horrific scene and we left pretty quickly while Iraq is a broader conflict with similar bad things happenings. I think the two are different types of geopolitical conflicts thats why they are apples and oranges, not because of a death toll. Saying because Clinton screwed up Somalia Democrats cant question Iraq because they are so "similar" is complete irresponsibility by North and exactly why he should only talk sports. Whether someone believes we should be in Iraq or not does not matter isnt what I care about but the stupidity of the analogy that North passes off as the end to his argument

It's just another major issue with the show. To make stupid outlandish comments about things as minimal in life as Sports, fine, go ahead, be a clown and entertain me, but when he starts talking politics that he only learned last night. Then we have an issue.

I once heard him talking about how he reads the paper and always did.

"Kids, if you drop out of high school, just make sure you keep reading the paper and you'll do fine."

I was cracking up, it was one of the funniest things I ever heard, but the difference is that he was 100% serious about it. Not lknowing what a clown he is.

I agree with the fact that north is out of his league when he attempts the political talk. In fact, the show is now nearly devoid of the lame political gab and guests the tried to push at the beginning of the show. Has anyone noticed that the show has become.... a sports talk show. North spent the first few months of the show trying to copy Don Imus. It soon became crystal clear that mike north will never be anything other than a sportstalk guy. The question now is how long will annie stay in the mix.

Speaking of... what was the point of a remote at a lunchtime on Friday from there. The place gets jam packed on Fridays at lunchtime. Now, if I planned on going there on Friday but found out about a remote, I'm changing plans in a hurry. Remote set means tables taken out and just a miserable wait with a tray in your hands a big ass pastrami sandwich in the proximity of your nose for 15 minutes until a table frees up. Saturday morning remotes are cool though.
