Just heard on M&H an announcement that Mitch Rosen lost his dad. I am positive that B&B will play the music and giggle, right?
I guess I'm really not understanding the great offense being taken by that thing they play.

Certainly not enough to remind Terry Boers about what I presume was his worst family tragedy ever...

I didn't hear it, but hell, I wish there was still MORE of that stuff on B&B like the old days.

It's a stupid story to report on anyway. Why should they have a scoreboard update on Doug Flutie's parents? I assume that was the gist of why it was 'disrespected'. I would've also settled for the Bruce Weber 'who cares?' drop.

Very sad.

RIP.

(I did not read Flutie's message)

I gotta be honest, at first glance I thought it was a horribly heartbreaking day for that family. And it is.

But then it kinda strikes me, just a little, as the most painfully romantic thing ever.

Absolutely. I assume many if not most 50 year married couples would prefer to go out together

Absolutely. This happened to my ex-girlfriend's parents. They were married for 40 years. Mom died first and the father essentially lost his will to live. He died about 1 1/2 to 2 yrs later.

Conversely I have an aunt that was married for 64 yrs. Her Husband died about 10 yrs ago and she just recently celebrated her 90th birthday. They married when they were teenagers and he was the only guy she has ever been with, at least according to family lore. She appears to be still going strong.

I think the former is far more prevalent however than the latter when it comes to this sort of thing.
