...who's the first guy to take a shot at these gems from Keeping Score?

KS hasn't had a thought since he registered. At the beginning while still slumming it as a guest, he actually forced posters to support their arguments. Now, he simply writes "Hey everybody, North is super!". Maybe he's tired now. Or maybe he's just bored and enjoys watching some of you get upset over his "Mike's the best" remarks.

Very well, I stand corrected. But it does remind me of a Stoney promo:

it was an oasis in what has otherwise been a series of awful posts.

I have no problem being challenged on my opinions and I welcome feedback, but when 95% of your posts are “North is great” and you’re clearly doing so just to agitate people, you become quite similar to the boy that cried WOLVES. No one is going to take you seriously when you are finally ready to be serious.

Though you’re not especially liked around here, you do seem to have a few functional brain cells. My suggestion would be: use them. We all know you like North, or at least get off on upsetting people by saying he’s still a quality host. Now, what else have you got? Furcal thoughts? Great. Anything on the Bears? Other shows besides North? Anything that’s not blatantly false like “Jesse and Lawrence are terrific”? That’s what I’m getting at...

The musings brought up by Mr. Asner are perfectly legitimate also. You questioned numbers being tossed around for Furcal, he questioned the difference between overpaying for a shortstop, and overpaying for a show host.

Mike on the other hand, leads the market in all kinds of categories:
Most riveting morning show in town - That is currently ranked in the bottom ten numbers wise,
Best interviewer in the business - As opposed to whom, Spike O'Dell?
Hottest wife in the business - His wife may be attractive, but why is Mike always...
Most down to earth host in the biz - Down to earth is where I live, and Dom Perignon is not served. Besides, I have it on good authority that Mike prefers Cristal when he is out running around. And that ain't served in Down to Earth either.
Coolest host in the biz- It depends on how you define cool. Connie Francis and Fritzy K need not apply where most people come from.

To be a homer for Mike is your choice and I respect that. And the rest of the morning show for that matter. If Mike ever rediscovers down to earth, he will be back on the road to success I believe. That will involve returning to his roots, not running from them. That will involve admitting a mistake and telling Annie adios. The same for Buch too. But to come on here and defend a show that is obviously not working, wrecks any credibility you may garner. Please share your thoughts on Mr. Aner's post and anything else. But I have known Mike for a number of years, and the very last thing he needs is another sycophant around him.

No, not necessarily. I've certainly never applauded anyone calling Jen a whore and I could say the same for many of the veteran posters around here. I'm not particularly impressed with her sports intellect and would prefer not to hear from her, but I agree that the criticism should be kept to the work & not the person.

The reason why North is hated so strongly is beyond his show. It's not because people think Mac is a better host. It's not even about his contract and the resources it drains from the rest of the station. The truth is many people feel they were duped. They believed his "regular guy" schtick. They now see him as a complete fraud and every time they hear his voice, they hate him even more. North bears no resemblance to the "common man", he is far from "undeniably Chicago", and I completely understand the frustration and disgust that pours out from his former fans.

I stopped listening to North a long time ago. Actually, it was around the time "The Wiseguys" started. I gave it a month, decided it was unlistenable, uninformative, essentially a waste of sound, and moved on. These days, most of the time I hear Mike's inarticulate voice is when he's reading/screaming some low-rent ad for some piece of shit company looking for cheap air time. To borrow one of Mike's favorite drops, "He's dead to me."

There is no solution (other than outlawing guests) to this problem, KS. It's an internet message board. There are tons of anonymous douchebags out there, and a lot of them seem to find their way into our little sports radio forum. I agree, calling Jen a whore has nothing to do with the show and does nothing to advance the argument of why North is a fraud. But, thanks to the power of guest anonymity, it will continue to water down what might otherwise be intelligent and interesting debate between Scoreheads & MVP fans.

KS, I don't really give a shit one way or another. I like Bernstein, but I don't freak out if someone calls him a liberal burrito. I like Harry, but I don't throw a fit when people say the show is better without him. I think the OG beatings have gone too far, but I don't start threads telling people to leave him alone. Like I said earlier, it's an internet message board, man. The only one who has the power to shut people up is bigfan, and he is the webmaster equivalent of a truck driver dad. You see him when you see him...

KS, why is it so important to you to defend North? Let's say it's true that people on here are unfair to him... even so, I wouldn't put nearly as much effort into defending my own mother on these boards as you do defending North. Right or wrong, it's like you take it personally, and I don't understand why.

You avoid responding to posts like this that ask very legitimate questions. You only respond when a personal attack is made. Or to defend the quality of a show that is extremely dubious at best. That is not personal. The numbers for the show do not back up the quality arguement.
