I've never seen anything quite like The Gong Show, and I'm fairly certain I never will.

I guess he's having celebratory highballs with my 96 year old grandfather (D-Day participant & later member of the United States Third Army) who also died last night

Thanks Cheetolini!

Thankfully I don't think he even knew about 45. I hope Chuck didn't either.

RR, your grandfather must have lived a hell of a life. Seems like a true hero. Condolences to you and your family.

Thanks brother. But as he'd been in deteriorating health for the last year we're looking to celebrate his life instead of mourning his passing

Barris was something special. I remember as a wee lad when TGS was first coming on. [SHARK]The TV Guide promo ad showed John Barbour (who later went on to be one of the panelists for "Real People", with the likes of a Skip Stephenson and :puker: Byron Allen) as the host, but he only lasted for the pilot. Barris relunctantly took over and made the show what it was.

Lest we forget Chuck's book "Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind", where he claimed to be a CIA assassin...[/SHARK]

That's a good book.

And sorry about your grandfather, RR. What a life that guy must have led.

Yeah, sounds like a great way to think about it.

Cocaine had to be a helluva drug. And really, what a mind.

Btw I like to think someday there will be a msgboard with customized software that has a use for [SHARK] & [/SHARK] tags... #DareToDream #SPORTS #ATTITUDE #BITE #SHARK

Also, if I may: I think most SHARK impersonations/homages are sorely lacking the #BITE that always made you smile when SHARKeroo caught someone slipping/sleeping/all-ignant and he busted out the "Uh [name], [correction in masterfully-subtle-admonishment form =]"
