Y.A. Tittle, who played quarterback for 17 professional seasons, has died at the age of 90, according to the LSU football team.

LSU deputy athletic director Verge Ausberry told the New Orleans Advocate that Tittle died Sunday night surrounded by his family.

Tittle made the Pro Bowl seven times while playing for the Baltimore Colts, San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants from 1948 to 1964.

The 1963 NFL MVP from The Associated Press, he is one of eight players -- a list that includes Peyton Manning and Drew Brees -- to throw for seven touchdowns in a game.

Tittle, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971, played his college football at LSU, where he was a two-time all-SEC honoree.

Short, white, and slow. He couldn't make a peewee team in Wheaton if he were in his prime today. Godspeed, Yelberton Abraham.

A dejected and bleeding Y.A. Tittle is one of my favorite still photos from the early NFL.

Glad the LSU football team is out there breaking news.

Y.A. Titties was Mitch's favorite QB growing up.

The excitement surrounding Mitch's debut was too much for him to Bears.

I never knew there was an eight way tie for NFL MVP that year. RIP Tittle
