Always seemed like a really likeable guy to me. That really sucks. Best wishes to his friends and family.

He was my all time favorite national announcer.

The guy had a great delivery and was always a solid pro.

Rest in Peace.

Wasn't a sport Enberg didn't excel at golf.tennis, baseball and NCAA hoops.Remember him and McGuire doing the Teddy Grubbs game against UCLA..There was only one National Game a week...you could catch 2 Big Ten Games on Saturday...how much Harv Schmidt and Rick Howat can you handle? That game brought attention to the DePaul team and he tourney :D Somewhere somebody is singing Rain drops are falling on my head

He was the goods. Walt said it best. He excelled at whatever sport he covered.

And he called the greatest game of my childhood.

Sorry to hear this news.

He broadcasted my favorite NFL game ever, the 1980 divisional playoff game between the San Diego Chargers with Fouts against the Oakland Raiders with Plunkett.

Wasn’t it Enverg and Olson that did the 85 SB?

He and Merlin Olsen were the voice of 80s AFC West 3pm games

As much as I loved listening to Vin Scully, Vin was not as good as Enberg on national broadcasts.

Enberg is certainly the greatest college basketball PBP guy, and probably the greatest overal PBP guy out there in front of Curt Gowdy and "This is for all the Tostitos" Brent.

Dick Enberg calling football, Verne Lundquist at the Masters, Hawk & Wimpy calling Sox games. My all time favorites.

Here is a great call of his!

Hawk and Wimpy?

I guess Jack Drees and Bud Kelly doing play-by-play of the Don Gutteridge White Sox was before your time.

always looked forward to Enberg on tennis. When he retired, I was pretty bummed. He was a true "voice of sports". RIP.

He was my all-time favorite. So many great calls to pick from but one that stands out from more recent memory was Illinois-Arizona 2005. Even in his later years as he started having more trouble following the action, I still widely preferred to him to a lot of today's announcers because he still understood how to make himself a positive complement to what was occurring, no matter the sport.

Remember the Stan Smith Nastase final.......Smith being tall 6-3 /6-4 came out of his crouch to slam it passed Nastase back hand....in typical Enberg he stated Smith reminded him of Godzilla rising from the Sea of Japan for the point :D

Seemed like an absolutely nice guy who broadcasted as if sports were fun

Jack Brickhouse would be jealous if that happened

Remember he was in the booth for the all important Angels game where Reggie Jackson tried to kill the Queen and Frank Drebin saved them all.
