There was a lot to admire in six sigma and talent development from Welch's GE days. However, much of GE's value was derived from financial services, and those units (insurance and finance) blew up after he was gone. They were also masters of cookie jar accounting/earnings management. Some of things he did would never pass muster today.

That aside, I read Winning, and it is one of the better management books.
