Had it for 20 years. Raised the price from 40 to 77. Magazine has gotten smaller and smaller and comes about every two weeks. When my subscription didn't auto renew do to a change in card, I just went ahead and cancelled it.

i used to work for a printer in the Chicago area that printed SI and luckily moved on before this digital age really kicked in. That facility was state-of-the-art 25 years ago and now the building is empty as the corporation has downsized. I still am in printing and while my current company is not a magazine publisher, we do print a lot of advertisements and so forth that get inserted into them and it is a sad time for the industry. That said, I don't have any subscriptions either and get almost all my news from an IPad, it is hard to avoid these days. I am a 3rd generation printer and likely the last (i should make it until retirement), although my son is working here over the summer for extra college money. Graphic Arts used to truly be an art form and I worked with many talented people over the years and it has been sad watching so many get laid off and fall to the side, one after the other.

I had a subscription like 10 years ago...cost 30 bucks and came with a copy of the current Madden game. Yeah, that was fine.

Still have my subscription. I pretty much read it cover to cover. I often read articles about people/sports/topics that I otherwise wouldn't seek out, and usually I'm glad that I read them.

I'll probably be a subscriber until the magazine is no longer print but only digital. I don't think that is far off in the future.

They will soon make you an offer you can’t refuse. Seriously. Magazines subsist almost entirely on ad revenue these days so they need to keep subscription numbers up to maintain buy rates.

I think my last subscription was around the time of the "NFL'S Greatest Hits" or Mike Tyson's Greatest KOs offers.

On VHS.

My dad was in the print industry for most of his adult life. If he had played his cards right, he could have held on until retirement age...unfortunately, through his own fault, he's driving a delivery van at age 60.

When I was a kid, he worked for the company that printed a ton of those old Bears and Bulls posters in the late 80's (think Junkyard Dogs, Black and Blues Brothers, etc)

A LOT of my friends met this same fate. I was lucky in that I embraced the early launch of digital technology and dove in headfirst, while a lot of the older guys who taught me traditional graphic arts using camera and film had a harder time
letting go of that and moving on, and they were left behind very quickly. I have been very lucky so far in my 30+ year printing career - i have worked at 3 printers. The first one (the SI printer) was bought out and consolidated a year or two after I left, shutting that plant down and laying everyone off, just like that. I still have friends who haven't fully recovered, and it was pushing 20 years ago. The second place was similar - after I moved on to my current company, within a year or two THAT place was bought and consolidated as well, and a bunch of THOSE people also were on the outside looking in, though some of them were able to transition. I have been at my current place for 12-13 years now and our market is much more stable so I THINK I will make it to retirement but the fact is there is no growth in our business - but we are a niche market and we are able to protect our business from the massive conglomerates like RR Donnelly and Quad Graphics that swoop in, buy up plants, shut them down, steal the work and lay everyone off.

I subscribe to Sport Collectors Digest. It has a lot of good columns in there and smells like an old comic book. It's a lot of advertising but it's 26 dollars for 24 issues.

I get both Golf and Golf Digest magazines in the mail. I don't have a subscription to either and I don't get billed.

This looks like something HY would subscribe to. None of that shit is worth money anymore, just ask RFDC's bro-in-law.

My parents get several like that. The only reason I noticed is that they each get a couple of the same ones.

The place I started at printed the Cubs souvenir programs, and when they made their playoff run in ‘89 I grabbed a box of special edition playoff program/magazines and still have them in the basement somewhere. My kid and I found them once and he got a big kick out of reading about Jerome Walton and Lloyd McClendon and Dwight Smith and all them. I was glad I kept those. We also printed Cubs Vineline. I wish I had kept some of those.

Use to sub to Vineline for a year. I think Murph wrote for them as well.
