I was aware of the name, and his association with Pavement and Drag City and whatnot.
It's kind of odd that this was the first song I ever heard by him that I knew was by him.

I agree.
There's a pretty long list of hyper-literate lyricists that I'm aware of but I have no idea if their music is any good.
This guy, the guy from Mountain Goats, the guy from Mount Eerie, that Bonnie Prince Billy guy, etc....

I know a lot about Elvis Costello and Nick Cave though.
