HaHa. It puts people who started a "conversation" in charge of the "conversation"'

So much for conversing, huh?

They're taking away something that made twitter a more interesting read than other social media. Whether for entertainment or information value, giving people the ability to speak truth/lies/whatever to whomever was a potent draw for many. I understand squeaky wheels get oiled but this is caving to the Julie Dicaro, OJ Simpson, Malcolm Gladwell, KD, DJT types who use social media but can't handle any criticism. It'll be a detriment to the value of the entire platform.

I don't understand the change.

You choose who you interact with now.

Nobody really listens to each other anyways and wielding this thing as a tool for censorship wont really work either. Twitter is the containment board for humanity.

Instead of blocking or muting entire accounts, users are now able to hide individual replies to a tweet by any user. The account associated with the hidden tweet isn't blocked or muted from your feed entirely. Just individual replies are moved to the bottom of the replies and hidden from initial view. Sorta the equivalent of down-voted replies on reddit. But it's entirely within the control of the original tweeter whether a reply is displayed normally or hidden.
