He'll see Kup, Jobo and Mary Mitchell waiting for him with cameras in hand. He'll cover his face with his fake leather jacket, Jen Jen will be by his side wearing Jackie-O glasses and Fred will be carrying their boxes.

His last day will be when his contract is up, he isnt going to pass up the grand going away love fest for him.

I imagine this might be what they leave on his desk, Pappy would understand this.

He'll be out for a couple weeks to feel out the market and listen to the SCR offers. Will be back pretty soon as SCR starts reducing the amounts/terms of the offer.

June 27: as stated, a big going away show. He will be off for two weeks, with both sides hoping it gets lots of press, and then he will sign the contract.

Friday, June 20th.

His posting his contract on the Internet showed that he's fishing for half of what he reportedly made before and with a time slot TBD. However, its the incentives part that has me believing that management is coming in with a far lower figure. Mike would love to tie the performance bonuses in with the hopes of coming in the rough neighborhood of $800K. But I don't think management wants to give him another shot in a big money slot (a.m. or p.m. drive). I seriously doubt they are going to go overboard paying him in the middle of the day.

The Teddy G thing showed just how far out of control the situation had become as the added attention driven by Greenstein's column all but daring people to tune in, and the ensuing fiasco of North swearing to get TG didn't earn Mike any points or friends. I wouldn't be surprised if the webpage got yanked because attorneys got involved, not the Tribune's but WSCR's. Probably the reason Wednesday's show (I actually took some time to listen) was so notably far from the previous rot that North had been tossing out.

There's no doubt that North's story is a true American success story, and his' would be a face on a Chicago version of a sports talk Mt. Rushmore. But even with the last two shows, vestiges of how good he once was, the toothpaste is out of the tube. I know stranger things can happen, as Jay Mariotti gets three more years to be a newspaper's version (I just wonder if the paper will still be around) of a punk assed drive-by shooter. So maybe North still gets to have a voice on the air.

But between the vacation days owed and the need to ride the crest of the Chicago Cubs/Sox series, I think Friday (June 20) will be his last day in the morning slot. [/i]

If I was running the station as of today, I'd have gotten him off the air after he made that "WL..." comment when doing the stations call letters, mentioned in that other thread. He was just being a smartass, and he could sit at home until his contract runs out.

They closed the show with My Way today BTW....

I just dont see pappy going out without a parade that of course he pays for.

I think Mike North will sign off for good next Friday, June 27th, which would be 2 days before his contract officially expires. He'll go down kickin', screamin', bitchin' & moanin' before he signs off for what will be his last show after 16 years at 670 "The SCORE". I think both papers will certainly have something to write one way or the other concerning WSCR's post-North plans if he doesn't sign the new deal for much less money...
