Normally, yes, but it's first-run syndication, so it's not as if a network can just put it on the schedule. The affiliates would have to figure it out on their own.

Maybe ABC can buy it, they won't have NBA to show. I don't know.

EDIT: it's still so weird to me that Jeopardy runs in the access hour with Wheel of Fortune in almost every market. It's been 3:30 in Chicago for my entire life except for a few months when they had to clear Katie Couric's failed talk show and moved it up to 2:30. East Coasters all watch it at 7. I can't imagine.

As a youth, I would visit my grandparents in Southern Illinois who had a giant rotateable antenna to pick up TV stations. Anyway, you could watch it in the afternoon and then later in the 7:00 hour... so when I was like 12 I watched it and tried super hard to memorize stuff, and then watched it with my grandparents later, and I would "know" all the answers. I know I thought I was getting away with it too. They were great grandparents to have.

I caught the producer's opening to last night's episode- he said they have 35 shows taped and in the can, and will air them in order as filmed- that was Alex's desire. Makes me wonder if he had spiraled downhill quickly or stopped a treatment. Perhaps he just said to do this no matter if it was two weeks or two years from then. Hard to veer away from his expressed desires when he has meant so much to the show. They did then "go dark" before the episode started.


Similar to my experience with losing someone to cancer, having an extended time to prepare doesn't make it easier, but can make it appear less traumatic, as you are far better prepared for the outcome. Almost resigned to the end.

Saw that too, taped his last episode 2 weeks before he passed.

The last moments I ever spent with my father was sitting quietly with him in his hospital room watching Jeopardy before saying goodbye, hugging him, and telling him I loved him and I would be back soon before catching a plane back home to my family. The next afternoon my mom called and told me he had passed away that morning. I will never forgive myself for leaving him in that hospital room and what I would give for a chance to replay that night, just sitting quietly with him watching Jeopardy and staying with him.

Nope don't beat yourself up over that. My mom stubbornly refused to die until I was out of the room. Wasn't even 15 minutes after I left. She also stubbornly refused to die until the anniversary of the day her brother died. And she was totally in a coma for days.

If he didn't want to die in front of you, he wasn't going to.

Yeah, we probably all have some similar story. My was my grandfather, he had a stroke and I hadn't gone and seen him for a couple of days, I was headed their after I got off of the golf course. They came and got me on the 17th green, he had passed. For a long time it bothered me, but I am good with it now. He would have wanted me to be on the golf course, he knew it was my love.

We used to watch Jeopardy when we'd visit my parents after they retired in Florida. While mixing up some cocktails while they watched in the living room I realized that the small TV in the kitchen was about 5 seconds ahead...thus I amazed them for a few minutes by answering every question like a celibate Costanza. I don't think they would have figured it out but I enjoyed playing with them too much to keep it up.

My grandfather demanded to be brought home one weekend. He sat with me spitting blood into a bag while we we watched an Alabama game. He made sure that my dad and I didn't leave until the game wasn't in doubt. Thankfully it was a win.
He had to go back into the hospital the next day and passed away two minutes before my dad and I got there Monday morning . And he knew we were coming.

I remember seeing both he and my grandmother in their death beds, both having passed before they each knew family was gonna be there.

I agree, the (their) minds and how people want to go have quite a bit to do with the unfortunate.

We sat with Dad for nearly a week, through a multi-day power outage at their place. He waited until I left the room to check on the generator and Mom was fixing some food or something. I walked back into his room as he left. Just like him to do it by himself.

My dad went onto his roof today because of a small leak. His main repair guy lives 150 yards away. Yet he persists.

My sons don't have to worry, I stopped going on roofs five years ago.

The down side is that they haven't learned how to plug a minor roof leak.

Yep, there's a few things I leave to the pros, roofing is one. I can and have, but don't now.

My middle kid moved to Virginia and bought a house- he's doing some of the DIY upgrades- sure wish I was close enough to help, but, he's texting with questions and figuring it out on his own, as well!

My oldest is in Nashville, FaceTiming and working like my dad and granddads more than I ever did.(YouTube)

But he just asks me how much repairs should cost. I think that he watched me fix a furnace and a little plumbing but knows that I think I know my limitations.

And I think that our sons believe that we & they know volumes of stuff our dad's don't/didn't. It's nice to be in a position to pass a torch.

Yep, last Christmas we watched a bunch of videos my wife had transferred to DVD to save them, each kid has their own volume, plus one about our house remodel. The kids were 6/4/1 when we were ripping out walls and floors-gutting the place. The boys loved to tear stuff down. Then my oldest said-you wired the house, did carpentry, masonry, plumbing, concrete, etc. How did you know how to do all that? I think it really was the first time he recognized what I went through and accomplished- that there is no way we could have paid someone to do all that. But I still didn't tell him I was just too stupid to know I couldn't do some of it.
