Hi Folks,

Well I see where Chris Russo has walked out of WFAN in New York. There was a little blurb in the USA Today. Chris Russo and Mike Francesca did it for 19 years. Chris really started the sports radio boom. Oh well, CBS does it again.

The Cubs are red hot and only a total collapse could kill them. They are playing with confidence and Pinella is the right guy to guide them.

Thanks to Teddy Greenstein for plugging our new winning web site-dontfademe.com. For $99.95 a month you will get all the picks you will ever need. Going in to today my record is 11-3 and up 800 units. If you spent $99.00 and you went to Vegas and bet $100 a game you would be up about $700.00. Seems like a no brainer to me. Check out dontfademe.com. We have major league and NFL picks up again today.

Also the best to all the writers gone from the Tribune. Good to see Ed Sherman is writing a book with Dan McNeil. I'm working on a book- started it with Steve Silverman about 2 months ago that has anecdotes and stories about the people I met in the business. The book is called Settling The Score. Should be out soon.

Take Care.

Mike

Yeah. CBS fuckers. I hate when they do that "here is 800k a year" thing. That's just horrible.

Will that book come with crayons, or are they sold separately?

He probably has to say "went to Vegas" because he has to be careful about promoting internet gambling. These blog entries are written in the same "regular guy" voice as the commercials he used to record. They're just commercials selling himself. But I think he believes that we will respond to them as though it's just him wanting to genuinely keep in touch with his fans, because we think that's what he's really about. It's an example of how much he underestimates his audience, and overestimates himself.

It's pathetic, and I'm starting to feel sorry for the Dude. He's blinded by his own success, and he truly believes he is a victim. Surrounding yourself with sycophants doesn't help you snap out of that.

How do you convince a guy to change, when up to this point, every decision he's made has led him to earning himself millions?

Apologies for being obvious.

Factually speaking, "Mike & the Mad Dog" was the longest running sports radio show in New York and had been a fixture on WFAN SportsRadio since 1989. The show's hosts, Mike Francesa & Chris "Mad Dog" Russo, developed quite a following in NYC, and whose show was simulcast every afternoon in recent years on the YES Network, DIRECTV 622. They also hosted weekend pregame shows for the NCAA Basketball Tournament & Russo co-hosted "In the Huddle" on CBS Radio Sports/Westwood One nationally & frequently chatted with David Letterman on his "Late Show". Reports of a breakup had surfaced when Francesa & Russo weren't working together that much this summer on WFAN, and there were rumors of Russo being offered big $$$$ to leave for ESPN Radio's New York rival before signing a lucrative deal to talk sports on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio since the merger was approved.

Facts and Mike North don't mix. That's like putting Al Franken and Rush Limbaugh in a carpool together!
