He used to use the term battlin Polacks every day at the end of his show. That is as big of an insult as any of those phrases to any self respecting person of Polish ethnicity.

I'm half a polock my self. Right or wrong saying polock, dego, or mic doesn't seem to be that politically incorrect. Probrally because those are all white people ethnicities. Thus nobody bitches because we're not minorities and nobody knows who a polock is untill he tries to screw in a light bulb.

Consider what Pappy would watch on TV: "Riffleman" and "Kung Fu" had all manner of asians referred to as "Chinaman". Well, maybe he wouldn't watch "Kung Fu": too many confusing flashbacks, odd flutey music...

North said Thursday he didn't know the term "Chinaman" was offensive..."I don't mean any ill will and I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, but every five years it's something different....North said he wouldn't apologize because he said the remark wasn't meant to be offensive.

I guess he meant no offense when he stated during the SARS scare that if he saw a Chinaman coming down the street he would cross to the other side.

And I'm sure it wasn't racially motivated when he commented to Fritzy on a story about a proposed Valet parking ordinance which would negatively affect 3 Chicago restaurants- 2 American & 1 Asian. He went on about how unfair it was for the American establishments but added "We don't care about the other joint".

Anyone hear Pappy's "sincere" apology this morning? He read a statement just before 9am. He apologized to Jae Kuk Ryu and said he now knows that "chinaman" is offensive. Yeah, real heartfelt.

You could hear him making the stroking motion with his hand as he read it.

At the very least it is a sign that Mitch finally can put the hammer down on Pappy. This never happens to Pappy. They finally realized "why should we stand by this asshole. He doesn't even produce for us."
