I'm watching CLTV's Sports Page and Olken is on the panel. Lou introduces him and says he's been hearing a rumor that Olken will be the new morning man on the Score. It didn't seem like he was joking. Olken didn't really make a comment on it. The replay is at midnight tonight. It happened in the first minute of the show. Any insiders know if this is true. Rock, your thoughts on this rumor? Would you stay on to get coffee for Olken?

You sure he wasn't implying that Olken would step in to replace Maxfield? That would make much more sense to me. It's not like the Score is going to eat North's $1.7 mil.

Maybe that's it. Does that mean Olken will read A.P stories? More then likely he will just be an old fashioned partner. I guess Fred stays to read scores. But now Olken gets to pull his puppet strings with Pappy. Now Fred lets start practicing.

"That's exactly right Steve"

"Yup you're right Steve"

"You hit it on the head Steve"

I liked the old WMAQ Sports Huddle with Olken & Chris Cross & Tom Green. But CBS killed all of WMAQ 6 years ago on 7/31. And now we have this crap on 670 AM instead. Brilliant!

The Sports Huddle was a simply awful show. Steve Olken's lack of knowledge of sports is rivaled only by Tom Shaer and Dave Baum. None of them should be allowed within 50 miles of a microphone if the topic is sports related.

How does Steve Olken not know sports? He was pretty solid back in the day on AM1000 when he hosted the pre and post for the Bulls and Sox.

Did someone say the "sports huddle" was good?

That show was worse than Norths. The only show worse is anything Jesse Rogers does.

Remember the alphabet game?

"Now when you call. Your question has to begin with the next letter in the alphabet."

GREAT RADIO

The sports huddle was the equivalent of having to listen to Jesse or Carmen for 5 hours. It was total garbage.

Wow. Outing Kessler on the message board.

Did he try and beat up Rock last year when he took his gig with the Bear?

It became garbage after Kuszinski and the other PsOS took over.

If Olken really wanted to get back into radio... isn't it possible that a grandmother or a baby sitter could help out. I am not trying to be ignorant, since I don't know the situation (how severe the condition is or how old they are). But if Olken wanted to do mornings, couldn't there be a way?

Oh absolutely, just saying that was why he pulled back and only works Sat Sun mornings now. Things could change with him, but that was his main reason for scaling back the working.
