I hardly ever listen to North's show but I heard that he was having Dale Tallon on this morning. Being one of the few Hawks fans still around I decide to give it a listen. I quickly remembered why I don't listen to this show anymore. Typical bushleague interview with a classy standup guy in Tallon. North repeatidly taking Tallon to task about Bob Pulford was just simply uncomfortable radio. It's obvious North doesn't know much about Hockey or anything else for that matter. I guess it's back to listening to my Ipod on the way to work.

I agree, that interview was one of the worst ever. You could tell North had no clue what to ask him so he kept bring up Pulford over and over. You would think maybe he would have someone do some research to have some good questions ready. Hearing North fumble around and ask the same question for 5 minutes was really bad.

Way to earn all that money by not being prepared!!!!!!!!!!

Typical North, bullie the weak, then kiss the ass of the most thinned skinned person I have ever heard, Don Cooper.

For those of you who may have missed the Dale Tallon interview, here is a recap:

MN: So why do you have to run everything you do past Bob Pulford?
DT: I don't HAVE to, I WANT to.
MN: So, you have to go to Bob Pulford and tell him what you want to do?
DT: No, I don't HAVE to, I WANT to.
MN: So, does Pulford have final say on player moves?
DT: No, I do, I'm the GM.
MN: So why do you have to consult him then?
DT: I don't HAVE to, I WANT to.

I believe in courtroom lingo, the phrase would be "asked and answered, your honor." Sheesh. Being a "tough interviewer" is one thing; asking the same question over and over and over and beating a dead horse is another.

"Sustained, Mr. Pappy's Crappy. Mr. North, please move on." Also, "Badgering the Witness" would seem to apply.

You had me laughing at that Pappy's Crappy. Don't listen but what makes it more funny is that it probrally wasn't one of your parody's. That was probrally a direct Pappy transcript.

Absolutely no parody intended. That was pretty much the way it was.

What an embarrassing interview!
North knows nothing about the Hawks.
He didn't want to learn anything about the Hawks.
His sole goal was to fry Tallon who seems like a really nice guy.
Isn't it great how he ends an interview like this by calling the guy "buddy" and acting like he wants to be his pal?

While I agree that North went on too long with the repetitive Pulford line of questioning, I don't feel he was attacking Tallon. He stated several times that he wanted Tallon to be allowed to rebuild the team without interference. I, for one, don't believe for a minute that Pulford doesn't still stick his nose into personnel decisions. Further, I would have expected more bashing considering the way the Hawks have plummeted - both in performance and in fan interest. Perhaps most surprising was that Wirtz almost went without mention. Not the greatest interview, but it's somewhat refreshing to hear a little Hawks talk once in a while.

Actually, generally every interview revolving around the Hawks goes without a direct mention of Dollar Bill - there isn't a question that hasn't been asked about the guy, and how many times you can pummel some poor schlep about the TV thing when said person has nothing to do with it? It isn't interesting or compelling radio to just repeat every previous interview since 1977.
