i also think mike north is years beyond leno in hosting talent. leno is a cool guy, probably smarter guy, but he is HORRIBLE as a host. its because he is so bad but still a genuinely decent man that people embrace him. he is usually pretty quick witted, and it makes for laughs.

most think letterman is a nerd or senile, but i would compare him to murphy in terms of the way they perceive their job. not in the style they do it of course, but they both passionately love broadcast entertainment. conan is the same as well.

leno, and even mike are genuinely decent people who make us laugh- but the hosting jobs just happen to be the outlet they fell upon, its not like they grew up wanting to broadcast.

All I can add is: Leno & Letterman make me chuckle, but Conan makes me guffaw. He's the funniest-looking & the funniest. I hope he doesn't tone it down when he takes over for Leno.

Just saw a Letterman ad and remembered North talking about David Letterman like he is a drain on the Score! lol
