I think the 'Wiseguys" started at Noon or so and North did an Open.

Now I am not 100% sure who then controls the volumes or "pots" as you Radio guys call it, but after the open, they went to commercials and North didn't pot all the way down so his voice could clearly be heard over the commercials. It was soft, but clearly heard

He ripped the producers a new A hole for a crappy open and how it sets the tone for a bad show and they can't keep doing this shit or they are out of here. Of course then more explatives.

Now I don't know Mike, only met him a couple of times and each time he was on best behavior, but I am going to go out on a limb if anyone ever heard that, we got a taste of the real Mike North.

Back at the Belmont Bunker most of the hosts controlled their own microphones except for the confused few like North & Buffone. So it was the producers fault, even tho it's only because North's an idiot & couldn't figure out a simple "green=on & red=off" switch.

North loves to drag people into his "office" and rip them a new one (right rock), I really wanted to puke when he would do this then get Bebe on the speaker phone so she could explain what Mike was trying to say.

Also, Mike is a pain in the ass because of his lack of knowledge on anything, but dont think for a second that Jigs was a walk in the park. That guy was a huge pain in the ass. He was awful on the radio, but yet it was never his fault. I felt awful for the producers and interns back then, those two guys would just make their lifes awful, wanting to be treated like they actually pulled in great ratings. Mike got a taste of that when he put feelers out to WGN, WLS and another station when his last contract was up and no one even called back, that was a long week for Mike..Lol.

I worked for the Biggest ASSHOLE of all time! #1! I bet he makes North look like a day in the park. He was such an asshole, he always brought his wife into his office for disciniplary meetings, because he was such a hothead he couldn't talk. I can relate to what that is like, it is the worst.

Anytime you wanna go BAD BOSS story for BAD BOSS STORY, I am LOADED! HONESTLY, Sitcom shit because it was so unreal.

FYI

The open was not that bad. Maybe not great and memorable, but not even close to deserving of a blasting. It was a classic blaming the other guy.

Hey, hey partner... (insert stupid laugh) Nothing but love for ya (Insert more stupid laughter and wait 10 seconds for Jigs to catch his breath) Lets dissect what you're saying my friend.

"That guy was a huge pain in the ass", Do you mean I had a HUGE ass or was a HUGE ass?

I would have to argue that I didn't have a huge ass until after I left the score. I was lucky to get a sammich every once in awhile at that rathole. Look at me now on comcastsports. My ass is HUGE my friend because we get pizza and not sammiches.

If your saying I was an ass, then I would argue that anyone that played OL for the Bears and has a Ivy League edgjumication can be an ass my frienddsdfgeferaeeeee.......(his chubby fingers, prevent him from finishing the email - gagnobit!)

Back in the day, Mike could get away with that, today he cant and he knows it and that just kills him.

You know why he cant stand, Paul and Mitch, because they wont buy his lies and lie for him to the big boys. Being accountable isnt what Mike likes to be.

I'm starting to reconsider whether I really want to get into this business or not.

Pappy or anybody in power ripping, screaming and yelling at people below them is nothing new. We all know that. It's a power thing. Radio guys are no different. Plus they know the producer is appreciative to have his job so he'll take it and stroke there ego's. They're probrally all trying to get on the air so they take it. The hosts know this so they use them as wipping boys. Same in other industries. Just the way it is. Jigs being an a hole is funny. He has that nice guy persona. He never had anything interesting or funny to say. He had less talent then Pappy and that's saying alot.

As a former broadcast major... unless you REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY love everything about the business and don't mind the likely possibility of being treated like shit, it's not worth your time.

An instructor of mine suggests sales and advertising in radio is great to pursue. I'm sure Super Fan Dan and other sales people at The Score live comfortably, but you gotta love doing that I guess.

You shoulda seen Little Napoleon a.k.a. Drew Hayes when he'd do his yelling & screaming - all while jumping up & down & flailing his little arms at the same time - Priceless!

I agree with Coach Crap. What's wrong with North being upset with a bad open?

XScoreGuy,

Is it true that Bebe would come into the office on behalf of Mike to assist in the chewing out of someone he thought needed it? What exactly is her position of influence (if any) at that station and with his show?

X,

Rock is currently his producer. So can he still get away with it or not?

I think that you are actually Jay Mariotti.

Only after she became a "agent". But she would hold meetings at pappy land and dont let that puppy loving persona fool you, she is as cut throat as they come. She did become more of a pain in the ass when this current show was a obvious failure. But I do have to say, she was always nice to me, but again, I always got a bad feeling when she was around.

I just got in the biz, love it so far, I'm in a smaller market in Wisconsin. I'm sure my first berating is on it's way, but it's the best job ever, still trying to cash in on my celebrity, no one seems to impressed by my posistion, or it's the fact that I'm still kind of bad. What job are you gonna get that some dickwipe wont bitch at you for no reason, thats what bosses are for.

Based on this and other things X has said, I think X predates Buch at the Score. For example, I don't believe Buch was working at the Score 5+ years ago when Bebe became an agent. X apparently was.

That's cool. I personally think it's better to get your feet wet in a smaller market. Just curious to know, where'd you get your education from? I'm at Columbia right now hoping to break in somewhere (I know...everyone's happy for me).

This is the same hollywood babylon that the murph haters hang on. I understand people may not be who they seem to be on the radio. Why should I care?

I, like everyone else, have many bad boss stories from my early days. I don't expect that any of my clients would care about them.

Nahh, I think most of the Murph complaints are centrally concerned with his Cub focus, his lack of football, basketball and even baseball knowledge, his "shticky" 1950s approach to radio, his condescending attitude towards callers under the age of 50, his obsession with the '69 Cubs, etc.

In my opinion, the "Murph is an a-hole" complaint is just a way of piling on. People hate his show so much that they make their criticism personal--kind of like what happens with Boers from time to time.
