Subject: Anne Maxfield

Bob, you wrote that WCKG and WBBM were not "good fit[s]" for Anne Maxfield. Yet you fail to mention (probably because you haven't spent but a nanosecond listening to the train wreck that is the Mike North Morning Show) that Anne Maxfield is not a "good fit" for sports radio.

Please see, for instance, the following post from "BD" on the Score670.com message board:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She shouldn't be on a sports radio station. This morning, North was calling out Urlacher again for only getting credit for 6 tackles vs. SF. Annie, in her brilliance, says he tackled about 2 or 3 players alone on the Nathan Vasher return. North and Fred had to explain to her the definition of tackle...

Replacing her with Matt "Drinky" Abbatacola was the smartest move Mitch Rosen made at WSCR. Drinky brought new life and energy to the show (and, I might add, intelligent sports talk). But having given up on that experiment, Mitch has now decided that life, energy and intelligent sports talk are the last things that should be on the Score's morning show. Back to the great discussion on what a tackle is...

I guess it's a positive step that he read it.

It is such a bad fit, that the examples are endless.

What Feder failed to write in his article and probably would never touch on is North's absolute control over the show and the poor performace, and response fromt he long time listeners is his issue

I sent an email to Robert Feder the same day the information came out, and as I posted in one of the other threads, he emailed me back stating that no significant changes to North's show can be made until his contract is up. This leads me to believe that the language in the contract he signed with CBS radio (not WSCR) allows him to make decisions regarding his show and that he has final say on major changes that management from the station might offer. If this is true its too bad for those who listen to his show. I don't list to his show, but I'm amazed at how things are done for him regardless of what he says or does. I can't figure out for the life of me how he seems to have such power at the station. The only thing I can come up with is that he patronizes major station sponsors (and any other sponsor for that matter) so much that should he be fired or mistreated he would tell them not to put their money into the station. Thus, management lets him do what he wants out of fear of lost revenue.

Feder and Mitch seem to share an affinity for exclamation points after the word Thanks! It now makes sense. Feder is Mitch's sock puppet.

Chip and anyone else, I agree Mike has this type of power and abuses it.

What I don't get is how Annie had a contract that even needed to be renewed? and then putting her basically off air, then bringing her back?

I assume Mike has $X for a 'Sidekick" in the deal and he calls her the sidekick?

The whole thing makes no sense.

of course they are the same ones that thought of this morning mess.
