Today's victim of the NBC firing line is Mike North, who's been a sharp and lively contributor to WMAQ-Channel 5's Monday and Friday morning newscasts and a commentator on Channel 5's "Sports Sunday" wrapup show.

He's the latest to be told he's out as a result of NBC Universal Television's order to cut $750 million and 700 jobs companywide. (Sun-Times gossip queen Michael Sneed got the ax on Wednesday.)

North continues to host mornings on CBS Radio sports/talk WSCR-AM (670).

Fritzy Konstantelos made a surprise comeback Thursday as a regular contributor to Mike North's morning show on the Score. His always colorful "Fritzy's Night on the Town" segment was canceled in October 2005 after an advertiser objected to a joke he made about Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement.

I'm declaring a victory without research.

I wouldnt call it insulting, for a critic, you shouldnt have such thin skin. We can agree to disagree, but I stand behind what I have stated. Since you seem to think I am worng, why not give me reasons and facts why the North show is so great. I want to understand you point of view, so tell me why I am wrong.

I would assume that you rarely listen and never even watched the Channel 5 segment embarrassment with North. His show is awful, but all you can do is praise the guy, while there is no glimmer of a fan base out there, which only leads me to believe that this guy has done something for you to make you turn the other ear when you take the time to listen to the train wreck he calls a show.


His show cant even beat the Mike and Mike show on AM1000 and Dan McNeil show is blowing away the Score, but you never mention that, why not? Also, why would you even mention Fritzy, sounds like a favor to me, I didnt know ciritcis did that.


I am sincere in the praise of your column, but this deaf ear that you seem to have with North and the out of place Anne Maxfield is very curious.

Are you kidding? North added nothing to the channel 5 morning sport cast, it is self promotion at it's worse, then you wast space by bringing up that the gutter mouthed Fritzy is back on his show, what is up, did North promote you to President of his 3 person fan club? I enjoy your column, but todays was just pathetic.

Did I miss something, or after all that, he never gave you a single reason he thinks North's show, or his appearances on NBC, have any merit?
