Owner can't hold a liquor license after a felony battery conviction earlier this year. Closed as of the other day.

Good riddance.

I was there twice. The place is a dive. The kind of joint you end up at, but don't set out to go to. Kind of like a Denny's or White Castle.

Ironically, there is a Denny's across the street and a White Castle like a block away.

I prefer the einstein bagels after getting my money from the chase.

You can then go spend your money at Wal-Mart

All kidding aside, I like to go to the Famous Dave's that is next to Chase every now and then.

I remember this place at The World's Most Dangerous Intersection being a bunch of things before it settled on Idols. They advertised on B96 a lot when I was little.

My contribution to naming things at Rand/Dundee: I wish I could've gone to Idols after visiting the Chicago Clock Co. with the neon grandfather clock on the sign. Also, I'm shocked but not shocked that there are still vestiges of an old Checkers at that intersection, at least 12 years since its demise. You'd think Palatine, The Less Bad Part would've taken care of that by now.

My family used to have a hair salon in the strip mall right by Rand/Dundee, the one with TJ Maxx and Spiegel and stuff. Twas where I got my haircuts as a kid, though I was always too jittery and wound up with crooked bangs.

Actually, the Checkers building is some sort of shady insurance office now.

I blame Idols' closing on the damn traffic lights at that intersection.

I had many a good time in that area back in the late 80s.

Maxfield and Friends

and

Some Other Place (SOP)

I remember going to SOP's on a Friday night and waking up at my parents house with a major league headache in Frankfort the next day. That's a helluva long way to drive home and not remember. I'm glad I don't do that shit anymore.

All the one's that have closed seem to be for some reason. That or a PayDay Loans thing.

When I was a kid (in the late 80's) my dad would take me to the arcade next to Maxfields for the Sunday Morning, play all you can for like 5 bucks and then we would go next door for lunch and the Bears game.

If you're trying to make me feel old, I'll trump you. I fucked one of your aunts against a dumpster behind Maxfields.

Doubtful

My only aunt didn't live anywhere near the NW suburbs until the late 90's

:D

I was leaning against the dumpster - she was pretty far away. ;)
