I see it is a 50/50 thing here. Some of you want to see him go, so say he stays with restrictions?

So if he says providing Annie goes, Fred as soley an update guy (if that's acceptable), who should he team based on what you heard during the auditions with or off your gut? (I know some people have blurbed, but I thought maybe a thread about it would be OK)

I think it worked best with Abbatacola

I think Drinky was good with North, but given Matt's lifestyle, mornings might not be good for him. I think that is the reason he has such a beef with Murph. Matt spent too much time partying and not enough time producing.
I think a three man booth with North, Drinky and the Grobber would be a good listen. At least then, Mike could not get by with his specious arguments without being challenged. Give them the 10-2 slot and reunite Murph and Fred in the mornings. Also, Mike no longer has autonomy over the content of the new show. Mike has proven that he is not creative enough to run things by himself.

Bring back the Grobber.

I think Drinky could adjust. Think about it. The shows done at 10am. So he starts boozing at 11am and passes out at 7pm. He wakes up at 3am pops a couple of those garbage hang over drinks that he pushes and he's good to go.

On second thought, Drinky would have to time his "passing out" to be at 10:00pm so he can watch the games. He's a pro. He'll do that.

Or he could grow up and stay in on the workdays, be a adult.

boy, that's an idea!

to me, there's nothing sadder than when people who finished college still act like they're in it. what self-respecting man embraces the nickname 'drinky'?

i'm not saying that one can't have a drink once in awhile, but to be defined by it? weak.

it's not fun. it's not funny.

North and McNeil were paired together for some Saturday shows in the infancy of the Score. It was good radio. I think they would challenge each other. At least argue.

Bring back Dan Jiggetts. He always was North's best on air partner.

No. Jigs sucked. He never said anything original. He just talked in circles and cliches. Plus, his main goal of the radio show was to save the community. Hmmm. It was all about car washes and coat drives with Jigs. Hmmm

I agree. He seems like a nice guy and according to some here he's a decent host. He apparently needs help with the adult thing, though. I listened to him once talking about driving home loaded. That was all I needed to recognize he is a DUI tragedy waiting to happen.

I agree also. I don't think there is anything wrong with drinking if you can handle it. But I often here Drinky refer to "Club Lodge". I guess that's a group title for the guys he drinks with at the Lodge.

Cmon Drinky. Are we a little old to be naming our drinking buddies with a title like it's cool or something.

Plus, past the age of 21 you should no longer brag about how much you drink or how stupid you got. It's just dumb and pathetic.

I mean I like to drink too. But I no longer lose control or act stupid any more. I don't call my buddies and say "hey dude I was so drunk I puked and made a fool of myself."

That being said, Drinky was able to parlay this into an endorsement deal for a hang over drink. So who's the smart one? Not that he planed it or anything. LOL. I mean the AH people probably heard him on the air and thought "We need a big time drinker to push this. This guy is named Drinky. Perfect"

I mean how many back ups/producers get endorsements? None. Having a drunk image has helped Drinky financially.

I think that's the only endorsement Drinky could ever get. So good for him.

You guys are being too rough on drinky. The name has been popularized by B and B. Matt goes along with it for the sake of the show. It's a character and it is amusing. I doubt he goes out drinking more than any other single 30 year old.

B and B find him going out excessive because one of them considers Depends to be a wardrobe accessory and the other has multiple kids and a nagging Long Island wife. Going out on a Friday is heavy drinking from B and B's perspective.

I know it started as a shtick for the show. B&B gave him the name Drinky. Plus, I said I have no problem with people drinking. Hell, everyday as long as you can handle it and our responsible.

I just think it's juvenille to brag about it and glorify it. I mean, when your in your 30's it's nothing to be proud of. It's nothing to be ashamed of either. Just drink and shut up. Nobody thinks it cute, interesting, or cool at that age.

And don't give your drinking buddies a title if your in your 30's. Club Lodge? That's pathetic.

yeah, i don't know how much he actually drinks, but as beardown pointed out, he drinks with a group of friends called 'club lodge'. beardown was dead on. it's a little burrito to include yourself in a cute drinking club. i mean, do you think someone like george jones referred to willie nelson, johnny cash and friends as 'the drinkitos banditos'?

bragging that you're drunk is similar to those who brag how much sex their getting. in both cases it's A)juvenille and B) probably a little exaggerated.

Where does on-air schtick end and real life begin? In the last week, we heard that Boers is really a decent family man, even though he has an affinity for publicly praising porn and acting like an a-hole to others. Somebody called Boers' on-air persona an "over the top on-air schtick". Now we are supposed to believe Drinky isn't really a danger to public safety, even though on-air he proudly proclaims activities that paint him as one?

They are just actors playing roles, huh?

Dan Bernstein actually likes Kyle Orton and TiVos According To Jim.

It's more then a schtick with Drinky. He's talked about being drunk and stupid often. Both on his shows and with B&B. I'm fine with people drinking. I just don't think it is interesting or funny to talk about it. Who cares?

curious, i love the sig! perfect!

last word on drinky:

i'm with beardown. i couldn't care less whether or not drinky drinks occasionally or drinks like a 17 year old girl at prom. i just don't think it's all that entertaining to listen to and that, in my spare time, i make fun of people like him.

go it, brah?

Jigs was good because he kept north out of politics/entertainment. He needs a strong partner and a ton of production help. He can still be a strong contributor, just not drive the bus. The annie thing has been a disaster. Noticed how he has tried to draw Fred into more disagreements lately? Someone is reading the posts here. The show needs to get a lot younger. The guy needs someone to keep him on track talking sports.

Brian Paruch used to be nicknamed "The Whipping Boy" and was a homosexual on a previous show.

I don't believe that most of the political talkers on the far right and left actually believe what they say.

I consider most talk personalities to be an illusion.

Well said, too bad so many people are fooled. It would be nice if the characters they played were at least entertaining.

Yeah. But we're talking about Drinky here. It's no schtick. He likes to drink and he likes to drink alot. He brags about it almost every chance he gets. He thinks it's cool and thinks people like hearing about a 30+ year old drunken stories. Like it's any more unique then anybody elses drunken stories. He's got the same mind set that a 18-21 year old has with drinking. "Dude, I'm gonna get so wasted tonight. It's gonna be cool."

I mean one day when he's sick of the image he'll tell people it was a schtick but it really isn't. It's conveinent for radio guys to use the schtick aspect when it serves them.

Stuttering John on the Howard Stern Show was suddenly able to lose his studder to become the introductory voice of the Tonight Show.

Ok Dolphin. I guess you're right. Drinky doesn't drink at all. In fact, in his spare time he probably lectures children on the dangers of drinking. It's all an act for the benefit of the show. You've convinced me.

In fact, Bernsie is really a meat head republican and Pappy is really smart. It's amazing the images these guys take on to entertain the people. God bless them.
