i agree, though i do believe there will be an eventual stimulus package. even so, i believe that's already baked in the 28,000+ cake. i'm thinking the vaccine and the eventual stimulus are both baked in. could be a pullback after election, regardless of winner. i believe the market wants to sell, looking for any excuse to sell-off a bit.

There's a flight into bonds with the 10 yr. down 4.5 bp to below 0.80%, which on the flip side, supports stocks.

Where are you going to put your money? Savings or bonds that have little or no yield or stocks?

Over the last month, stocks are cheap today. I don't think the market should be so spooked by SAP missing on earnings in Germany. That's not the end of the world.

Now they're talking about a blue wave being good for the market as far as stimulus. The Democrats at least would not be deadlocked.

True. But the market is always foreward looking and would begin to price in stimulus immediately, if that does happen.

Stimulus is a can being kicked down the road. That is a temporary measure that also has severe consequences. There will be a day, fairly soon, that people will realize that a dollar bill is just a piece of paper....FedCoin.

The problem is that the stimulus is only a temporary solution for that just like the first one was. Unless you are going to do a stimulus payment every so often for two years you are only delaying the inevitable.

There were 47 million people living in poverty prior to May and the original stimulus only made a difference of 4 million.

It seems like this is just a backdoor way to get UBI well before it is a good idea.

so it buys 30 days for most people, then we have the same exact problem.
Do not get me wrong, it's needed....but it does nothing to solve the root cause of the problem which is the shutdowns.

Enhanced UI can help get most people through the winter with the extensions that have been created.

Couple that with the $1000/per child and $1200 per adult stimulus checks that will help a lot of families to get through the holidays.

Unless the president can force the will of the governors I think we have to accept the potential for shutdowns are going to be a part of life until a viable vaccine is distributed.

The precedent for relying on the courts to legislate for congresspeople who are scared to offend their constituents is annoying in itself, but what exactly do you think the courts will tell the governors?
