I thought his schtick got tired very quickly, kind of like Phil Jackson.
Walton was great when he was being his quirky self. Walton wasn't great when he was being the character based on his quirky self.
He's a lot like Bill Murray in that way.
He didn't have a regular gig. He was being invited to give the fans the character. That's what he did. That Sox and Angels game didn't do record numbers because Sox fans wanted his baseball insight. We tuned in for the Walton character we fell in love with. It was nostalgia viewing. He understood the assignment; BRick and old people didn't. Sad!
