And also something about how Greenstein's daddy paid for his Northwestern education

Oh my god, you mean a parent actually wasted money on their kids education, what the hell? I guess its better to just let them run the streets and let them drop out of school and hope they get lucky.

The unflappable Pappy said" Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor"? The only better radio was Edgar Bergen doing his ventriloquist act on the airwaves.

I'm just gonna "sit back, relax, and strap it down . . ."

You know, if this douchebag had an ounce of brains or an ounce of class, he'd just say, "Look, to my fans out there, there is some information in the Tribune this morning that I don't necessarily think is totally factual. We're working on resolving this and when we have an announcement to make about my future, you'll be the first to know. Thanks. Now let's move on and talk sports." To rip a columnist doing his job for things like "his mommy and daddy paid for his Northwestern education" just shows the depths to which North has sunk.

Well, RV, that was followed by a bit of a soliloquy about how education doesn't make you smart and that just because you drop out of high school doesn't mean your life is over.

None of which I disagree with by the way.

However, understanding that Mike's story is a success story but for every Mike North there are 100,000 guys that could have benefitted from staying in school, I still think he should acknowledge that while your life isn't over, you are certainly making things much more difficult for yourself right from the get-go.

That would require some actual class on Pappy's part....

You know its just going to be special. I hope Teddy G comes here and replies to Mikes comments. I also would like to know what business his dad has paying for his education, its so unheard of and its not even close to the knowledge of beoing street smart.

Right. No one's saying it's the end of the world- you can still make a good living for yourself. It's just not something you want to PROMOTE.

He has neither.

However, Teddy gave people a reason to tune in today. It's probably the biggest audience the jerk has ever had.

Tick, tick, tick....... The End is Near!!

Good Dr. I agree that ones life is not headed for the crapper if they dont make it out of high school, sometimes thats just the way it is, but North has gone out of his way to rip apart people with education and that is my issue.

I was going to make a new topic of this but figured that I'd just ask the question in here. What song should they play at the end of North's last show(if he doesn't get resigned)?

It's also quite an assumption that Teddy's family was rich simply because he went to Northwestern, which maintains a need-blind admissions policy and gives a substantial amount of grant support to around half of its students. One of my best friends graduated from Northwestern--despite coming from a family with an annual income of around $15,000--because NU gave him 95% grant support. I also had 80% of my undergraduate education paid for by Northwestern.

NW did all they could to keep you away, I see.

What school did they pay for you to go to?

My second choice was a Ross Jardine seminar in creating wealth. Third choice was a Turkish prison. Fourth choice was U of I.

Anyone hear him comparing himself to Sinatra this morning? Why? Because they both dropped out of high school.

I wonder if he tells the Notre Dame kids he coaches to drop out. Hell, they could be the next Frank Sinatra or Mike North!

This stuff is just too good. You couldn't make it up if you tried.

Yeah, I think Kid Cairo, The Rock, Scottie Pippen, or whatever else he goes by these days, should set up the ole' CVS tape recorder and tape the next few weeks.

Well I decided that confinement in a Turkish prison would be more appealing than living in Champaign-Urbana for any sustained length of time.

So did Eric Gordon.

No, wait, that was Indiana.

Mac has posted on several occasions that the reported number is light. You have to remember though that Dan is part of a three man booth.

Maybe the SCORE is thinking of Murph and North mid days.

Listening to pappy today, it was weird, he was insisting it was a good show, telling us ratings didnt matter, but yet he bragged about beating Rush and Stern, moeny didnt matter and it wasnt about the money, but turned down the orginal offer because it wasnt a respectful offer and respect to him is money.

Pappy is looking really bad here, really bad.

For the record...

North did not state he beat Rush & Stern. Quite the opposite...He was defending his losses to M & M by trying to make the case that the "National " guys always beat the local guys (of course that's wrong as well, but I digress).

North claims the $800K figure is both wrong and low. He later made a quick reference to being offered just over a million dollars. He said it was a good offer but that there were strings attached (my words) which were deal breakers. He also stated he hates his current GM. IMO a time slot change would not be a deal breaker if the dollars are right. I think management is either making programming demands (a partner perhaps?) or asking him to shake up his staff.

In his references to other stations having interest in him, he kept implying that he had managed to avoid being pinned to a certain subject area. I took it to mean that he believes that his foray into general topics and/or politics qualifies him for non-sports talkers.

I thought he said he always hears about losing to mike and mike, but no says anything about him beating howard and rush...i could be wrong, i was knee high in office hell.

If I was looking at North from the other side of the table, that would be a must. He has proved he should not have creative control of any show. I would insist that the station controls his show 100%, he could have input, but Managment would have the final say.

Murph kills Tirico. He killed Patrick too.

That makes no sense. The Score always bills themselves as "We talk Chicago sports. Not Red Sox."

So Pappy is saying people don't want to hear local? What?
