RIP. great citizen, under siege as president. inflation, gas, wear a sweater and turn your thermostat down, unemployment, crime, panama canal, 3 mile island, hostages, failed rescue....he ran the gamut of loser scenarios for a president.

Jimmy Carter was a shitty President who spent his post-Presidency running around with dictators such as Hugo Chavez. He can fucking rot.

I was born after Carter, but through Joe Biden I got to experience what a Jimmy Carter Administration looked like.

I distinctly remember the difficult economic times under Carter, even though I was far too young that it should have mattered. The news was always bad. My dad didn't seem worried but I did as a little kid. I think it has impacted my life.

I could go on a very long rant but it's all summed up in "leaderless". It's the time I first heard the line, "Do something, even if it's wrong". Then he sent out a rescue team for the hostages and they crashed in the desert. Everybody went, "yeah, that sounds about right."

Nah. History shines nicer on him because of all his humanitarian projects and the fact that he is probably the most genuine and nicest man to ever reside in the White House. But he was not a better president. He was an awful president.

Why do Rats think they get to define "decency"? What people like Carter and Biden have done to the American people is far from decent.

Carter was the first neoliberal president. Hard to call him good when he did that.

Calling Carter "ruthless" is ridiculous. So ruthless he sold the Panama Canal for $0 dollars.

He would have been a better Secretary of State than a president.

He did manage to negotiate the Camp David accords and then negotiate after being President with North Korea. If he was tasked with following the orders of a competent president, I think he would have been an above average negotiator.

Domestic policy and messaging totally eluded him. He was dealt a bad hand but managed to also play it horribly.

There are a lot of people taking advantage of “don’t speak ill of the dead” decency to rewrite the political history of the guy.
