I'm saying your behavior, the match game, encourages the trolls to post. It makes it fun for them to create new characters and watch you play your detective game.



I never called you childish. I've enjoyed some of the characters, others not at all. You keep it in this thread but they do not. I'd love it if they only posted in here. If you can get them to do that, that would be swell.

For the record, I never went anywhere. I just don't spend my days near a network connection that I feel like using to post here. I fall into the category of folks Spaulding mentioned. 95% of the threads here don't pique my interest. I filter the trolls or posts that simply make no damn sense.

Sports talk and gabbing about sports talk is why this board exists (as far I could ever figure out) and that's why I'm here.

Would a travelogue from my journeys around the country help you, KS, in eliminating me from any of your crazy multi-user witch hunts? I'd be happy to take pictures of newspapers in the various cities that I travel to and post em here for all the world to see... or I could go back to ignoring this insane thread... either way, I'll be OK.

One final thought.. I emailed MJH years before I knew about this board.. and used Sam in Hoffman as my name at the bottom of the email...amazingly enough because I'm Sam.. from Hoffman.

Well the ego is important, even if it's only on the internet. We are all adults here Spaulding, so if someone creates new id's for KS to hunt down, your angst would be better served if it was directed at them.

The clicks here are for more disturbing to me. People who post together for group adulation of a specific point make me sick. The mob mentality of many just agreeing with each other is pathetic. I don't post on any other board so if the same mentality exists in other places, then that sucks too.

We all wander to and from this board. The people who need to tell others that they are leaving remind me of petulant kids who used to take their baseball and go home.

This place gets very, very strange at night.

I still get it and 50 pages later this thread still seem to have life. Shocking considering the topic.

At the end of the day.. I lean more toward the unreliable nature of the list at the top of the post. I clearly know who am I (Sam...yes.. sam i am.. green eggs and ham.. i've heard it for 33 years..) and how many alts I am (0). Given that I'm still in post one as a potential alt for someone else, I suspect everything on the list with the exception of the folks that have come out publicly to announce their alts.

I'm going to go back to ignoring this thread and the world of crazy that exists here. Although, I'm a big fan of the KS pictogram posts. It's like a gameshow.. good stuff!

I usally stay out of these types of debates and I like both of you but I'm in a pissy mood and I'm gonna take Spauldings side on one side of the argument and that is many of us are tired of this bullshit.

KS tends to want to bait people and that's fine with me and he seems to have fun doing it but I will agree that you bring the ass clowns out which just cludders up the fourms with non sense and we are all just tired of it.

In defense of KS he does get the board jumping and brings fodder on some days and stomach cramps on another but he has a purpose here for giving an entertainment value here. I know it's a message board and the easy thing is to just go away but I've made some friendships here and have friends who come on here and I'm not about to let a couple of dicks chase me away from something I find to be fun at times.

Have a forum called "The PUPPET FOURM" where all the alter egos can have a thread to be assholes and I bet it would be the most popular thread here and it takes away the other morons who feel the need to post all over here and bring nothing to a topic.

I'm not even going to post my college picks here this year because I don't feel it's even worthy of this board this year.

Like I said it's your board do what you want with it but a lot of the Regs might not be around much longer. And to back up Spauldings argument in the fact a lot of have been PMing each to discuss the crumbling of this board so she is not the only one who has become disinchanted.

I try and stay out of most of these conversations, but I have to give my piece. I've been using message boards for the past 10 or so years. Trolls will show up on any public forum. Some of them will even be regular posters who are trying to have fun. The discussion here is leaps and bounds above almost every other message board I have ever used and the self policing that goes on here is one of the reason. I don't know if multiple screen names being called out is the reason, or the fact that most of the time new trolls are made fun of, and then eventually ignored.

HUGE, Old Man Potter, Dietrich Knickerbocker, andyRooney, and other identities have personally entertained me from time to time. Mao didn't, but that's because he just flat out wasn't funny. IkeSouth, who may or may not be someone's alter ego, has had some great posts even though he looks like someone who is a troll.

I have no problem ignoring the trolls. I use the "View Posts since last visit" function and if the post was started by someone who I want to ignore , I don't click on it. I can find good posts in every section. If a forum is full of a bunch on nonsense, I still only see the newest posts. I only click on a section to start a thread in that section. I recommend it to everyone.

As to the direction of the board. I have peaks and valleys of posting here. Lately, I've been posting here a little more than I should be and I am lowering my posting activity. As college and NFL football starts up, I will probably be posting less.

This board has no direction. There is no purpose of the board. It has not strayed from some grand purpose. It is a group of people, most of whom enjoy sports talk radio, who want to talk about it. It has become kind of a meeting place for ideas and discussion and a resource for criticism. People leave, people come. One day I will no longer post here and others will pick up the slack for the great void that would be the loss of Boilermaker Rick.

This board is what it is. You either adapt and learn to ignore the useless posts or it isn't fun. Unless bigfan starts banning everyone who is questionable, then you are going to have to ignore the fringe of posters. The infusion of new people is what keeps the board live and fresh. The cost is that there will be idiots that come in and waste everyone's times.

Keeping Score is not ruining the board by this post. People leave the board because they want to. People come back because they want to. The board has no direction and I wouldn't want it to.

Ummm ..Yeah it has Rick. It has strayed far , far away from it's grand purpose of Sports talk radio and sports in general. It's now a place for people to just come and be a tool and bring "NOTHING" to topics such as Sports radio.

It was nothing like it is now some 18 months ago and like I said when Pickles and I started our threads it stayed in that thread and it was a funny skit that most enjoyed and it went away. Many have fallen off or went away who either were great posters and had insightful thoughts about Sports radio in general. Now we have a board that wants to turn this into whose has the most annoying troll. If you find that to be fun then I can't help you.

This again is not to blame KS about anything here it's just a question he asked and I'm answering it. Do I like waking up and turning on my PC and seeing Rooney, Moa , and other tools plastered all over the baord?? No.. Do I like KS ..yES..

I've heard this expresssion a lot (particularly among professional athletes). While it seems like a very profound and deep statement, I've concluded that it's the most meaningless, over-used statement going today.

There is a general discussion forum. Ignore it if you don't like it. How often do you post in the NFL section? How often do you post in the "Chicagoland Colleges" section which I am trying to turn into the NCAA section? There is currently some really good NBA discussion going on. I don't know where you are missing your sports fix.

I do find it ironic that you bring up you and Pickles. I guess it's only worthy of being on this board if you are involved.

It seems as if you have a few trolls or you would not be so quick to defend the stance of them .

I just clicked on your profile and looked at your last 50 posts. I see one or two that have anything whatsoever to do with sports in general. Please give me an example of your last post that had anything to do with sports in general. The closest one I found was one that said "Rex is our quarterback". That's why I was trying to show you that there is still good sports discussion going on. How about you head on to the "Chicagoland colleges" section and check out some of the posts about the upcoming season. You are a self proclaimed college football expert yet you don't post there. I even have a preview that I made for the college football season which you are free to rip apart if you want if you are looking for sports talk.

Now I'll give you credit, you do post about the MJH show and sports talk radio.

You would think a self described college football expert would know that almost every college football team plays 12 regular season games a year now. As for your prediction, I feel it is incorrect.

I'm glad you have a lot of free time to view my posts. Again and for the last time...Where does it say I must post in a thread or a topic to not be aggravated by all the trolls ..That is my point Rick ..I don't feel I have to post a thought to be heard or please you at the topics I do post in .I have read your thoughts about the up coming college football season and I enjoyed it but I really didn't have time to post and I was too lazy to follow up and I do click on different threads and read the thoughts of others. I listen to two shows on the BOARD and it's either MJH or B&B and I sample Northie at times. I post in MJH becuase they are my favorite and the people I know here and enjoy post in that thread as well but untill BF forces me to post in every thread I 'll choose the ones I feel comfortable in .

BTW,I won't ackknowledge the extra game by the NCAA for the simple fact it's a d-2 cream puff for the bigger schools to beat up on and it pissed me off that the NCAA won't add a playoff game but will add an extra game for money and T .V. ..Makes no sesnse..Now , go get your shine Box.
