Nine Chicago broadcasters made this year's "Heavy Hundred," the list of the 100 most important radio talk show hosts in America, as compiled by Talkers magazine. Four hail from ABC-owned news/talk WLS-AM (890).

They include syndicated host Mancow Muller (No. 11), WGN's Spike O'Dell (No. 35), WGN's Kathy O'Malley and Judy Markey (No. 55), WLS' Don Wade and Roma (No. 57), WLS' Jerry Agar (No. 58), WCKG's Steve Dahl (No. 71) and WLS' Roe Conn (No. 79).

WHAT!!!! No Mike North, didnt Bebe get those donations to them to get Mike on that list? He wont say, but I bet this is bugging the crap out of him.

Once again, Kath & Judy ranked higher than Mikey Two Times. Maybe he should pattern his show after theirs.

I saw the list also. North is in the 101-250 section. Only other local fellas were MJH.

That list is waaaaaay beyond messed up. Rome is 19th, and Dan Patrick is down in the honorable mention/participation area with North and MJH.

The listings are flawed. WOW.

He tried, that's why he has Jen Jen and Annie on his show. Someone tell him you can't just take two "hot" broads and equal the ratings of Kath and Judy.

Well. Guys like Rome and Patrick have to make the top 100 even if you don't like them. They are national shows. By the way Rome has grown on me. I listen to his rerun shows and think he's OK to really good at times.

Becoming a Rome fan is more like Stockholm Syndrome, Mr. Reason.

Stuck in the cube/office, his show always entertains me. I can't name another show I'd rather listen to in the 11-2 timeslot. Please help me better myself if you have better options at that time besides CD's and music.

Yeah. I don't listen every day. But sometimes I have him on if I'm not intersted in Letterman or Conan and he entertains me.

The guy does good interviews. He's prepared every day on a wide variety of topics. He makes me laugh more then most sports talk show hosts. They must screen callers well because alot of them are sharp, to the point, and insightful.

You could order Tony Robbins' tapes or how about that Dolph Deroos guy. He sounds like he knows his stuff.

Mancow isn't on in Chicago anymore, he's not one of our own. Steve Dahl, I didn't know that if you were on a station with a .9 share you could get on the list.

Rome is great. His standard sports interviews are good-- like a younger Bob Costas, but hes even better with monologues filling dead air. When hes in a groove, his monologues are the best. Worthy of good stand-up. He's one of the only sports guys who can truly go solo. Insanely good sarcasm and humor--he has a way of putting things. Most of everyone else going solo whines and bitches(J Hood or Holmes for example) , or they cheat by talking to the traffic girl, news guy, producer or other lame yes-man on mic so they're not really solo.

The clones contributions are hit or miss. I did like Dan Patrick with Dibble( he gone).
but Rome is the best national sports show in my book.

Rome just has people write his show, I like it, but he's not doing the majority of the work, he goes on a script, he's the Garrison Keller of sports.
