This morning on the Mike North Morning Show, the subject became how undependable the Internet is, how they are wrong so often ect as North was protecting the Score because they had been reporting all day yesterday that the Bears had signed Tyrone Carter, in part because ESPN.COM had reported it, and the Tribune had credited it also in Monday's paper.

My question is what would the Score actually have to report if it wasn't for ESPN.com, or the local newspapers ???? They don't break stories, they don't have any beat reporters down in spring training - EVERYTHING they get comes from either the Tribune/Suntimes, ESPN, or, dare I say, the Internet! They don't have a station without the other media outlets doing their homework for them.

Speaking of their own reporters, where are Bear 'Insiders' Zach Zaidman and Lawrence Holmes yesterday when the station was reporting inaccurately that the Bears signed Carter. Where are they today when Lance Briggs' situation is heating up ?

That's right - they only react to the news, but they are nothing more than ex-producers, and this is coming from somebody who thought those guys did a good job reporting during the season - just don't ask them to report any 'inside' information.

North can hate the Internet all he wants, but it's not going anywhere. In fact, he's right, there are a lot of Pro Football Talk sites that are wrong quite often, so, maybe the Score should use their own sources - if they had any.

Laurence Holmes disagrees.

At least until you challenge him on his point.

Then he'll run away and claim Mitch won't let him talk to you.

Are you referring to Loho saying that Mitch won't let him come on the board?

Yes, and it's an excuse he conveniently fabricated after he was challenged to enumerate the four stories he allegedly "broke".

Larry Homers was probably working the phones last night. Calling each Bears player asking if they'd wanna go bowling with him or something.

I'm sure he'll be on sometime today to break it all down for us, and to tell us why Carter never really made sense for the Bears.

I wonder is Desmond Clark is impressed by the fact that Holmes was a catcher on his high school baseball team.
