I heard some rumors that the policeman dad of a grammar school classmate might have been involved with Burge. I hope it's not true. The guy did have an explosive temper and was kind of scary. He was our basketball coach one year. That was fun...

yeah, but that was not much compared to what it cost the taxpayers to compensate Burge's victims.

On top of that, iirc, either the taxpayers or the police union footed the bill for Burge's legal defense. I seem to recall people bitching about the cost to taxpayers of Burge appealing his conviction.

I was in an Uber the other day and Burge's name came up as we were discussing that crooked cop SGT Watts. (Watt's name came up in the news as some of the guys had their cases overturned).

The Uber driver said that Burge tried to pin a murder on him when he was 14 years old and lived in Roseland. He said that Burge tried to pressure him into convessing and he refused. Didn't say he was tortured or anything but he did say that he was hauled in and interrogated.
