At about 9:32 AM, Mike got a call from Ozzie, who was mad about Mike's complaining that AJ isn't starting the opener. Ozzie managed to swear three times on the air, and Mike was about as mad as I've ever heard him. Good stuff!

I did catch the swearing, but it was hard to understand ozzie, what exactly did he say to North that North thought was "talking down" to him?

Mike never gave Ozzie a chance to talk after he swore. Did Ozzie know he was live? He just shouted Ozzie down and where is the 5 sec delay?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it was that Ozzie kept swearing on the air, and Mike--who as host could get fined by the FCC--considered it disrespectful. IMHO, this is the 5% downside to Ozzie's otherwise-enjoyable big mouth. I mean, really, why care what Mike North thinks. Funnily enough, Brenly was on at the time and agreed with North on the AJ issue.

Who's in charge of the dump button ? Even if Ozzie was swearing, isn't there a 5 second delay that would have bleeped it out ?

I have a feeling those two will really enjoy the makeup hanky panky.

Mike pushes buttons better than anyone! And then uses it his advantage! I've heard the same thing against Ditka and Jordan.
Jordan was smart enough to not respond but Ditka wasn't

There was some fidelity in that segment. Good radio.

And Fred agrees with North.

I'm positively shocked. :P

Nowhere in the 150 threads that were started on this subject did anyone actually mention what was said.

I think it was above Kid Cario. North called Ozzie out for sitting AJ today in the opener. I think it makes alot of sense. AJ has caught 3 games in three days (he caught 2 innings at the end of the wed PM game) and would be facing a tough lefty in Lilly. Give him a day off and let Hall earn a check.

North isn't worth the effort. But I love the idea that the guy who drunk dials another show, routinely makes an ass of himself is demanding that someone show "him??" some respect and that someone who is good at a sports related job not talk down to "him".

Boers is right. (and) Bernstein is at his worst so far this morning so far.

What don't you understand?

I think that North took exception to Ozzie telling him how he should do his job. North has the right to ask AJ how he feels about not starting the series and not hear "Why the fuck are you asking him that question?" If you don't think that question isn't talking down to someone maybe some of you guys should respond to your wife's or girlfriends next question like Ozzie and she what she thinks.

I don't understand someone talking through a bad phone connection that is talking a million miles an hour and is sometimes difficult to understand as it is. i wasn't saying I couldn't comprehend what he was saying, I was saying I couldn't decipher it, other than the swearing.

I apolog-I, I confused your post with another one that I read.

I dont think telling someone to shut the f*ck on a live radio show is staged.

Not saying it was staged. Just sounded that way based on North's over-the-top reaction.

I know North played it up to full hilt, but still, more entertaining than usual (low bar, I understand) and it surprised the hell out of me.

The delay is seven seconds. Once the button is pushed to dump him, he can go right on swearing because it takes a minute or so for the delay to re-set. If he is not put on hold or cut off, the rest of the conversation is live.

Rock may have pushed the button once, but once he did, he knew the rest would be live if he didn't cut off Ozzie's phone line. Gutsy move by Rock, don't pimp him out by complaining to the FCC. We have all heard the f word before.

Did Ozzie call in on his own? Or did someone seek him out?

Sorry, I can't side with North when he is talking about 'class' and 'respect'. Use your own damn dump button

I'm hoping Rock will weigh on this over the weekend, but I wonder if there are fewer dump-button options at a remote--Rock???

It does make sense to give AJ the day off with the lefty on the mound. Also, they probably want to see Toby Hall who was brought in for these type of matchups.

Mike should realize this is one game, not the WS.

First of all, A.J. not playing today, not a big deal, but this does show the nasty side of Ozzie. He is just proving that he is truly thin skinned. Good Manager, but cant take the media shots at him, even when they are justified.

It's a no brainer. AJ played over 9 innings Wed, the day game after yesterday, lefty on the mound, Hall having some of the best numbers on the team against Lilly, plus very likely that AJ will pinch hit and get in the game in a NL game...I am shocked that the million dollar man on a sports radio station couldn't see any of this

North needs something to light into everyday. That's why he overreacts each day to last night's game.
