Beginning this summer, the Bears will conduct their entire training camp at Halas Hall, the team’s state-of-the-art facility in Lake Forest.

Fans will still have the opportunity to watch practices for free at Halas Hall. A limited number of free tickets will be available to attend the practices. Additional details regarding the training camp schedule and free public tickets will be announced in the spring.

The Bears will conduct training camp at Halas Hall for the foreseeable future, ending their 18-year stint at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais. Prior to that, the Bears held camp at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for 18 summers from 1984-2001.

This sounds like BS

Bourbonnais was pretty much open house, those the last few years I think you had to register for free tickets.

Nas will be pulled over for DWB as soon as his car enters the Lake Forest town limits.

If you liked his training camp reports last summer, you'll love his arrest report next summer!

Compared to Bourbannais, I forgot to add.

From the team standpoint, it makes sense. They barely practice or hit in "camp" anyway.

From a fan perspective, it really is shitty. MANY families made a camp trip an annual pilgrimage. There was a lot of stuff for younger kids. Its really too bad that this is where things are trending in today's NFL.

I've been to Halas Hall. Unless they've expanded the parking also, there isn't much of a parking lot and it is up a guarded drive so you can't park outside the facility.

  We were going to make this a yearly thing. Especially because my youngest son is a Bears fan. Now I'm not sure. I'll probably take a look next year but it was a lot easier to hop on I57 and go.

I'm sure it's an antiquated way of thinking, but I think there has to be some benefit of going away to camp as a team, staying in the dorms, etc. Kind of a bonding experience.

Bonding. Especially with new teammates. Seems really odd to throw away. Especially when they still have 2 years on their contract in Bourbonnais. I can't imagine that was cheap to break.

I like it, sleep in their own beds and work more. I give a fuck about the fans and media, just win.

Great for fans and team building. I don't see how this makes the team better.

It can't hurt, the teams come out flat every year under Nagy.

Then Mitch, Pace and Nagy are gone.

Not quite....Nagy will still have 2 years left on his contract. A more likely scenario is:
- Pace fired. New GM hired
- Mitch is cut
- New GM waits a year to "evaluate" Nagy. Fires him after 2021 so they only pay him for 1 year.

Pace isn't going anywhere. They'd have to go 4-12 for about three more years for that to even be considered.

it's possible the bears helped pay for the tower painting a while back.... most likely the bears and the college and or city had an agreement in place... im sure the city was on the losing end of it if there was a way to total up all of the expenses (hard and soft costs) vs. the revenue generated for the college/city by the attending fans
