One of the greatest composers of the 20th century and probably the best composer for film after John Williams. He was, of course, Italian and died July 6. His most famous compositions were "The Ecstasy of Gold" and the themes for a "Few Dollars More" and a "Fistful of Dollars." Possibly his best from the Good the Bad and Ugly Soundtrack was The Trio", played when Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef meet at the cemetery in the final scene of the film. Morricone received an Oscar for the score of "The Hateful Eight" by Tarantino.

Liked his score for The Untouchables.
