That's our standard as well, although it should be noted that stemless glasses are commonly used in Italy for table wines (ie non expensive).

I use a beer Stein... and it might not be filled with wine.

We have some stemless wine glasses but if I drink wine I often just use a lowball/rocks glass as the ones I have are lot more sturdy than the wine glasses. I really rarely drink wine though unless I’m visiting my family for a holiday as they are all wine people.
