I watched this before Chicago's Best ever existed. It's too bad. Hard to believe both food shows are gone. Now I gotta depend on Frank Costanza's suggestions to find new places.

can't they just take the show to another broadcast outlet? Shouldn't cost much to produce. Amz or Peacock or Adult Time could pick it up and run with it.

Pepin started as a fry cook at Howard Johnson and ended up cheffing for de Gaulle and the Kennedys.

J&J were a combustible pairing, and not just b/c of all the french wine they'd cook with. One episode they were making hamburgers and Julia wanted double bacon on hers. Jacques pulled a face then partially relented but was going to allow only a single slice of bacon on her burger--til career spook Julia went Mission of Burma and let Pepin know she had no qualms or legal concerns about ending his cheese-eating, surrender-monkey ass right there on camera

Pepin started out in his mother's restaurant in the early 40s. He worked his way up in France including cooking for deGaulle, then came to the United States.

Pepin is still cranking out very good little four minute YouTube segments from his house, in his mid 80s. He did a bunch of them during the early days of COVID focused on using what you have in the house. Less this year as his wife of many decades passed away late last year.
