He was touring right up until recently. Within the last year I was offered tickets to go see him in Rockford, but I had to decline due to previous commitments. He was an amazing performer and songwriter, I will always regret never seeing him perform live.

I dabble in guitar but a friend of mine is a very accomplished player, and she has told me that when it comes to 12 string guitar, nobody was finer than Gordon Lightfoot.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down.

Jaw Breaker hit on my favorite.

Between Gordon Lightfoot and Harry Bellafonte passing my son's odd musical tastes have taking a beating this spring.

What about the unknown Bachman from BTO to make it a threesome?

The silver lining when someone famous passes is that it gives you a chance to go down youtube rabbit holes and find cool stuff . Theres a pretty famous one out there of Joni Mitchell, Roger McGuinn and Bob Dylan hanging out at Gord’s house with Joni , Roger and Dylan performing Coyote while Gord is just playing host in the background. One of those “ can you imagine what it would’ve been like to be there “ moments .

Looking at a lot of stuff I decided he looked like a generally cool guy in the 70s and 80s. By the time he passed he looked like the crypt keeper.

As dead folksingers go he was deader than most.

I love a lot of his stuff, but hate The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
