His time in the announcing booth in the 80's was a joy. Man.. 80. Thought he would be older than my folks for some reason. This sucks.

I’ll always remember him as the guy from NBC’s Hang Time.

Rest in Power Coach Katowinski.

Great player, but he completely ignored an excited young Nas the first time I saw him in the stadium. I enjoyed his Twitter persona.

RIP

NFL legend Dick Butkus -- one of the greatest linebackers of all time -- has died, TMZ Sports has learned. He was 80 years old.

Our sources tell us ... paramedics responded to a call for a medical emergency at Butkus' residence in Malibu at 12:51 PM. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dollars to donuts it wasn't him tweeting. Expect a blocked possible game winning field goal tonight. Hopefully it's our field goal though.

Living out your retirement years in Malibu isnt the worst thing in the world for sure .
Edit : Just looked at photos of his house in Malibu. I would’ve never the house left if I lived there. Absolutely stunning place .

Especially a player from that "they drove fork trucks in the off-season" era (ish?). Must've had a good investment guy.

House is valued at 10 million, so he sure as shit did something right. Played what , 8 years ? Yeah he had to have parlayed his post football career into a pretty successful moneymaking enterprise.

I think he had one line in Johnny Dangerously, but it was a great one, “what a mouth on that guy!”
