I always found his stuff pretty entertaining. It sounds like he went out the way a lot of us would like to.

Mojo Nixon suffered a “a cardiac event,” according to a statement provided by his family to Rolling Stone.

“Mojo Nixon was full-tilt, wide-open rock hard, root hog, corner on two wheels + on fire…,” eulogized his family. “Passing after a blazing show, a raging night, closing the bar, taking no prisoners + a good breakfast with bandmates and friends. A cardiac event on the Outlaw Country Cruise is about right… & that’s just how he did it, Mojo has left the building. Since Elvis is everywhere, we know he was waiting for him in the alley out back. Heaven help us all.”

So many good songs...

Now it is 1984
Knock-knock at your front door
It's the suede denim secret police
They have come for your uncool niece
Come quietly to the camp
You'd look nice as a drawstring lamp
Don't you worry, it's only a shower
For your clothes, here's a pretty flower
Die! On organic poison gas
Serpent's egg's already hatched
You will croak, you little clown
When you mess with President Brown

I like your stories
I love your gun
Shooting out truck tires
Sounds like loads and loads of fun

But in my room
Wish you were dead
You ball like the baby
In Eraserhead

We went to the Philly Pizza Company
And ordered some hot tea
The waitress said "Well no
We only have it iced"
So we jumped up on the table
And shouted "anarchy"
And someone played a Beach Boys song
On the jukebox
It was "California Dreamin'"
So we started screaming
"On such a winter's day"

Love me two times baby
Love me twice today
Love me two times girl
Cause I got AIDS
Love me two times baby
Once for tomorrow
Once cause I got AIDS

So I went to the Kiev, and ate breakfast. Then, as I walked down Second Avenue towards St. Mark's Place, where all those people sell used books and other junk on the street, I saw my penis lying on a blanket next to a broken toaster oven. Some guy was selling it--I had to buy it off him. He wanted twenty-two bucks, but I talked him down to seventeen

the sons of Reagan ...Heil!/Gonna kill us some pagans ...Heil!/The right's your sacred mission/Start an inquisition/Gonna purge the heathen minds!

All this shit, it's just no use
Men unite, don't be abused
You have to go, it's not your choice
Sure, we'll go, but hear our voice

Life is full of contradictions
Hard to understand
And for every happy woman
There's a lonely man
Nixon had his puppy
Charles Manson had his clan

So mo-my-mama, mama-mo-my-mum
Take a look now, look what your boy has done
He's walking around like he's number one
'Cause he went downtown and he got him a gun

I shot Reagan
I shot Sadat
I'm gonna shoot you
In heaven, you'll rot
I shot Lennon
I shot the Pope
I shot the devil
Now you ain't got no hope

Now Stuart, if you look at the soil around any large U.S. city with a big underground homosexual population--Des Moines, Iowa. Perfect example. Look at the soil around Des Moines, Stuart! You can't build on it. You can't grow anything in it. The government says it's due to poor farming. But I know what's really going on, Stuart! I know it's the queers. They're in it with the aliens. They're building landing strips for gay Martians!

- The important thing here is that we get to the part where you ask me how I'm gonna get down to the shore.
- Oh. How are you gettin' down to the shore?
- Funny you should ask! I've got a car now.
- Oh, wow, how'd you get a car?
- Oh, my folks drove it up here from the Bahamas.
- You're kidding!
- I must be. The Bahamas are islands.

Not Mojo- or Dead Milkmen- related, but this reminded me of a song I've always liked and found interesting, "Hypnotized" by the Bob Welch version of Fleetwood Mac.

In the second verse he talks about a strange pond located in North Carolina. I've always wondered if it was a real place. There's some thought that he is referencing a Carolina bay. But it may be about the Devil's Tramping Ground, a perfect circle in the middle of the forest where nothing grows and animals are reluctant to tread. Also, it isn't very far from Asheville.

Good Sunday afternoon chilling tune, first I've heard it. dayum they made good music in the 70's. Looking at the credits on the song => Bob Welch with Fleetwood Mac as his backing band. No Lindsey Buckingham back then? I always thought Buckingham was Fleetwood Mac.

Is that what got the MLB announcer fired?

Other than "Albatross," "Hypnotized" is probably my favorite pre-Buckingham/Nicks song of theirs. Kind of a dry run for "Breakdown."
