HEY IDIOT! You Jag Bagged a kid that basically had a cruel joke played on him!

The story of Kevin Hart announcing that he is going to Cal to play football on Scholarship is one of the cruelest 'Punked' of all time!

Looks like someone set the kid up for an intricate well played PUNKED.

If Mr. North chose to read all the way to the end of article he chose to read he would see that a criminal investigation is ongoing.

The kid did not just call a Press conference to announce he was going to Cal without thinking he was going.

it is actually funny, but I do feel bad for the kid as he has NO offers.

That’s like Jag Bagging the elderly for losing their homes in these loan scams as a result of the credit crunch.

Speaking of which, I have to go now and attach an LED and buzzer to my nine iron and head to the Sunrise Junction Retirement Community to sell my Stinkfist Radon Gas Detection Services.

That is alot for Mike North to read. I am going to take a shot in the dark here and say that Mike's comprehension skills are equal to that of a 3rd grader.

Like so many things, he heard about it, had someone tell him about it and it became fact.

While he was correct about the kid calling the press conference and he truely did not have the scholarship offer he thought he had, Mike obviousely did not read the end of the story beause as I am guessing that was way too much.

There is some evil genius kid out there that is having a great laugh, or is scared shitless because of the investigation.

Some people have their facts wrong about this, but it doesn't appear to be Mike North. He seems to have gotten it exactly right.

It's a common mistake for people to believe something they read and then further assume facts not in evidence.

Yes. That is exactly what he did.

I feel like I just did an investigation after reading those 2 articles.

Not taking a shot at North here, but if the kid admitted to just being the bullshit artist of the year, why is the School still continuing any investigation and what charges can be brought against a kid for telling the media something?

Wasn't this an after school special on ABC?

Maybe some small school offers him a 1 year deal now just to get the pub?

Also, at such a small high school, I would think the head football coach knows about who is being recruited? Where was this guy in the process?

No charges for BSing the media, but when law enforcement got involved in an investigation, there conceivably could be charges for lying to the cops (filing a false police report). Whether they choose to prosecute the kid is another matter. I don't know what the school is investigating and am not going to assume...but it could be any number of things, including the actions of the coaches, did anybody else know, why didn't the coaches prevent the kid from calling a press conference, etc.

In high school, I was way too lazy to concoct and carry out a plan like this. Not much has changed.

I believe the original point of this post was that Mike only read half of the story. The Rivals story talks about the possibility of someone impersonating a college official.
Mike never brought up that point -- he just railed on the kid.
Coast, the story that you use as evidence was released last night.
After the fact, it appears that Mike's assumptions were correct.
It still doesn't cover up the fact that Mike -- once again -- jumped to a conclusion -- Telander column -- and started spouting off.
This time, he was just fortunate to be correct.

In high school, my guidance counselor tried to touch me where I pee. At least that's what I told the cops. Oh man that was great. Ruined her life. Nice lady though.

Hey Coast! North may have eventually got this one right, but according to all reports, the kid did not announce that he was pulling this shit off until Wednesday!

So North did not know what he was talking about

http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=207187&cl=6339453&ch=207399&src=sports

he claimed a few different things before he came clean on Wednesday.

I still think someone played a joke on him and whoever did he is either protecting, or it just looks so bad to sit there and tell everyone that 'some guy' recruited you, called you, wrote you and now he is gone.
