Take it for what its worth. Had lunch with a buddy who works for WLS and has connections over at WSCR. These are the issues with Norths contract

1. North wants to reatain creative control over his show, the station wants to bring in or move another producer in to control the show.

2. North wants to stay in mornings, WSCR has told him that wont happen. Murph or Patrick are the only two people being considered for this time slot.

3. Money isnt really a issue, but this time WSCR/CBS wants a buyout clause in the deal. This clause would would also have something to do with Mike being so critiical of WSCR and CBS, Mike is against it.

My buddy told me that its 30/70 that he stays with WSCR, but he told me that there is NO MARKET for Mike out there. Like I said, take it for what its worth.

I knew there was no market for Pappy. I also said that Pappy would want a Jen Jen clause. I guess the Score wants him to get a real producer.

I also speculated in another thread that Patrick might go live on the Score. Man, I'm brilliant.

Stern is on Sirius.

I just don't get why they would offer him 800k for him to do anything but morning or afternoon drive. Middays don't generate huge money. There just isn't that big of an audience. Pappy would be a fool not to take this even with their conditions. That's a gift from the Score.

It's weird. With these conditions it's almost like the Score knows they shouldn't bring him back. It's almost like the Score is saying "He's Pappy. He is the Score. We have to bring him back. Don't we?" Despite the fact that nobody listens to him.

Pappy is really the luckiest guy in the history of radio. Nobody thinks he's good. Not even his bosses. Yet they keep finding slots for him. They keep giving him nice contracts. It really is amazing.

It will suck if they put Patrick on live. I like sports and all, but I just can't listen to any national show.

I agree. But the Score is looking at how Mike and Mike kill them and figure they should try to compete with a national guy. They can probably save money and have just as good of a chance to win that battle.

ESPN proved a national sports show works in the morning here.

Nobody should be happy if this move is made. I can envision a day where the SCORE is less than 50% local. If Patrick is on in the mornings that will mean there will be national programming for 11 hours straight.

Patrick's show goes live from 8-11 Chicago time. So maybe they'll give Murph 6-8.

Then they'll have 11-2 for somebody before B&B start.

Stern is on Sirius.

I'm waiting for the response on this one. I don't have satellite radio in the car, so let me ask: Could you listen to Sirius all the time and get it confused with XM??

We have XM with DirecTV and it says "XM" on every station.

I watch HBO movies all the time on my XM radio.

I really wish they'd put B&B back in mornings. Terry could roll out of bed and broadcast from home, and Bernsie's a good AM listen.

I'm just tired of having the most enjoyable sports radio shows all on from 2-6.

If this is true, the fact that they don't want him on in mornings anymore makes my day. But Patrick? Come on, what's their thinking? If you can't beat Mike & Mike, you might as well join them with another national show?

Busted! Let me guess, you also enjoy watching the NFL Sunday Ticket on your Comcast Digital Cable.

Good to know someone that claims to be part of WLS heard no market for Papi, as WLS is one of the places I figured he could go.

I have sirius and thought I had XM for a few months, just knew I had satellite for free for a year and didn't really care which system was in my car.

Not to totally sidetrack here, but saw a CNBC report on the merger of two and it looked like it will be awhile as their is a monopoly concern on behalf of the DOJ. Yes the FCC also needs to sign off and neither is moving ahead on it.

While it seems like it would be a monopoly on the surface, all they need to do is convince the DOJ that their true compeition is free radio.

Another nugget from my guy, the numbers North threw out to the redeye are not even close to what the score is offering. 375,000 to 425,000 (incentives are part of those base numbers) is where the boys at cbs want and no way is he staying in mornings.

Ok. That makes much more sense. I thought initially that it was Pappy throwing out the 800k-1 million figure. For his ego of course. He wants people to think he's making that.

The Score has all the leverage. He's not getting offers any where else. He'll have to take what the Score gives him or walk.

They shouldn't offer him anything.

I hope your source is right. Sorry that he lost his job though. The shakeup at WLS should let people know that it is a tough time in radio right now.

So, was it a tough time or the right time when the Score let you go?

Never wanted to be in the biz, unlike you.
