I heard the end of an interview he did with "his guy", Curtis Granderson this morning. Apparently, Granderson said he's a fan of daytime TV talk shows, so Mr. Big Shot, Mike North says, "Well, ya know dey tape two big shows right here in dis building--Jerry Springer and Steve Wilcos--so I tell ya what we're gonna do fer ya. As many tickets as you want fer you and da team, just tell us, and we'll set it all up fer ya. I know da peepul dere and it'll be all taken care of. We'll put ya on hold and get all yer information."

Like a big-time athlete needs Mike North to "take care of this for him." First of all, the tickets are free for the asking to anyone. Just go to the shows' websites. Plus it just sounded so weird to have him put Granderson on hold to get "his information" like he was some schmuck who won a Pappy t-shirt or something. I can just see Granderson giving "his information" to Jen over the phone, all wide-eyed and excited and thinking, "Oh, cool, Mike North is going to get me in to see a Jerry Springer taping!"

Gee, Mike, major league ballplayers are treated like such nobodies and have no "people" to take care of their every want, so Curtis Granderson is lucky to have a big-time guy like you with TV connections in his corner to get him a few perks.

The guy is trying to be generous and get into Granderson's fav five for future interviews and gets ripped. You are right, Granderson could get tickets, any tickets, expensive, cheap, or free, to any show, anywhere. The thing is though, he may not have time or inclination to pick up a phone and ask for it. With Mike hooking him up he would get a chance to experience something he otherwise wouldn't have done.

Crappy:

Granderson was a guest on his show. When you have guests, I would hope that you would go out of your way to be helpful to their needs. Knocking North for what he did is senseless.

Just as an aside: Steve Wilkos Show = high quality entertainment. Jerry Springer is a shell of his former self.

Wilkos sits in front of me at Wrigley. The guy is a putz with some really bad teeth and tries to hit on any chick in his eye distance even those brought by others to a game, which I made him aware of.
