So according to Mike, the Black Hawks killed the scores ratings, not his show, its the hawks fault.

Actually, it may be a combination of both :)

Maybe the try airing too many "Mike North Best of the Best highlights" in between Hawk commercials?

Very Happy the Hawks are gone. While I don't mind going to a game, it's bad on TV and even worse on the radio and I hate when they bust on in Doug and OB.

"So thats why he was bitching about the station making $22 million last year"

Now if we can get rid of meaningless White Sox broadcasts, like Coop at the Cork and Carry with the Ranger instead of NFL draft coverage.

What happened to Mike's Hawks love?
That lasted a few months. Remember, this is the guy that went off on Bill Wirtz shortly after the owner had passed away. He's taken to task by the Hawks, then he starts promoting his love for the team on the radio. No more puck drops for this hockey schmuck.

Next up NIU. There is some seriously bad programming that gets in the way of Bears talk in the fall/winter.

Who can forget Blackhawk hockey cutting into white sox world series coverage?

This could be very bad news for Jesse once baseball season is over.

Some of the best news at the Score in awhile. It will be nice, if I am looking for sports conversation, to not have to listen to the Hawks. Now, if we can just do something about all those commericals!

Maybe they can fill the time with "The best of the MNMS" everyday, just like MVP does with the MJH show. LOL

I guess it's OK to rip the Hawks again now that you're no longer the rights holder!

Mike has spent plenty of time ripping on them as well though.

I guess B and B can now begin joking about Savard's "Commit to the Indian" comments.

This is why the Score is a joke. Excuses for the same old pile of shit they have thrown on the air for years. The Hawks have brought back excitement to the city and I applaud them for giving the finger to the Score and joining a station that will provide a cog to the fans .

The Bulls will blow for a while and the Hawks will be the talk of the town and these dopes like B&B , North and who ever else they decide to throw out as the flavor of the week in the big chair will continue to ignore the Hawks and be left to take calls from morons who want to talk De Paul hoops.

You can have the Score and dopes who broadcast from it. Im sure the Sox will just kill the ratrings over there and it won't be long until North is blaming them because his station blows.

Does Mike have to give back his "Chicago Radio Icon" award the Hawks gave him?

I still don't understand how having the Hawks, who play from 7-10pm every other night, effects Pappy's, 6-10am, morning show.

Somebody please explain that to me.

Don't explain it. It's just Pappy looking to blame his failures. That's always the case with him.

I don't know how the Hawks effect B&B either if he was using it as an excuse for the rest of the station.

Fred: Sure it is.

Jen: Do you guys think like that Patrick Kane is like kinda hot?

He's reaching. He must be trying to say that because the Blackhawks were on during the evenings that nobody listens, and people would flip the station, and not turn back.
Again, he's really reaching on that one.

Just speaking for myself, I don't listen much at all anymore because he gets bored with sports talk, his topics aren't very interesting, he needs a cohost (sorry Annie), and he doesn't relate to me either.

I get in the car and the radio is on WGN from the Cubs game (think that is called trickle down) and I hear Dave Kaplan taking about the GREAT fit the Blackhawks are.

Then my favorite of the old lady who called in and was concerned this is the start of WGN just becoming a sports talk station and not hearing some of her daily favorites.

Maybe Milt Rosenberg and sports central.

I don't care one way or the other as I don't listen to hockey. If the Score listeners want it gone, no matter to me. But the Score's logic doesn't compute.

The Hawks were paying the Score for years for air time, but now the Hawks have become so hot again that WGN will be paying the Hawks for the rights. The Hawks were so bad for ratings that WGN was willing to pay to get them? WGN is consistently among the top 5 stations for overall ratings in the Chicago market and the Score is in the 20s. I know which management team I'd wager is on the right side of this one.

Don't forget the John Mc Donough factor and his connections to WGN. I know WGN would not be looking to make a bad business decision. However, Mc Donough can get a meeting any time he wants and once he is in a meeting he appears to be a fantastic salesman.

But . . . but . . . John McDonough is one of Pappy's "good buddies". My image of Mike North and his all-encompassing power in the Chicago sports world is shot to hell! Say it ain't so!

How much you wanna bet if the Score kept the Hawks, North would be boasting that his pull and his connections were a major factor? Now that he seems to be pissed they lost them, it's all management's fault.

But 'GN isn't paying for the Hawks. It's a shared ad-revenue set-up.

If you want to appeal to the largest audience, you go to the number one station in the market. Not some low rated niche market station.
As far as Mike being good buddies with McDonough, that's a laugh. John talks to Mike to promote the Hawks, nothing more or less. Mike thinks everyone is his good buddy, Mike also thinks he's important in the Chicago sports world. He's irrelevant and has no mass appeal. His niche is shrinking daily and he will find out how few "friends" he really has when his contract isn't renewed at anything near the current rate. People laugh at him and his ignorant, bigoted, uneducated mouth. He's a clown.

He clearly has no idea when he's being patronized. He was giving Ron Zook all sorts of advice during an interview last year, and it was obvious Ron was patronizing him, but I'm sure Nort thought he was feverishly taking notes.
