"While the midday duo of Sun-Times writers Mike Mulligan and Brian Hanley are the odds-on favorites to win the morning job, CBS Radio management will spend the next month or so weighing all options. Among names mentioned were Dan Hampton and Dan Jiggetts."

Jiggs, Hampton and North. That would have been great! Espeically during Bears season.

Jiggs and Danimal would be terrible

I agree that Dan & Dan would need a third wheel as a moderator, at least, possibly a baseball guy for that season.

Hampton has a really difficult time speaking and formulating coherent thoughts. Between Jigg's phony laughter and Hampton's difficulty speaking and poor command of the language, that show would be a tough listen...I would not tune in.

I will tune in to Mully and Hanley, though.

Just a few comments on the ratings chatter...

- North said he was 5th...he was actually 8th (in demo)
- They could almost put monkey on the station...and get a decent rating because of the format. Personally, I listened to Tom Schaer (spelling?) way back when...then through Murph & then North. Why? Because it is Chicago sports...and that is where my interests essentially are focused.

I will say that while North was on...I listened and turned away to other stations a hell of a lot more....But now it's M & H in morning for me.

"Different venues of entertainment?"

Carnival ride operator?
Ticket taker at movie theater?
Clown at kids' birthday parties?

Come on, Mike, be more specific.

Jesus, please god NO. That would be a worse disaster than the Telander and Buffone old guy radio show. They are way past their prime if they ever had one. They need young blood with new thoughts and ideas, not old big name retreads.

Remember when Salisbury got fired from ESPN and he said it was good for him? He said he's looking at getting into movies, TV, radio, publishing and public speaking.

How is that going for Sean? What movie roles is he up for? What big corporations are hiring him for public speaking? Christ, Sean didn't even speak well.

North is like Sean. They both have this over inflated view of their worth.

The funny thing is that as bad as Salisbury sucked, he was doing a ton of work for ESPN. Local radio, national radio (weekends), TV host, TV anylist, inapropriate picture taker. I would assume he was getting paid pretty well for a minute there. I guess it just occured to someone in management that the guy was completely useless one day.

Remember when he left they said he was still going to be doing updates and analysis of the NFL for the station? Whatever happened to that? Not that I'm complaining, I'm just wondering why they'd say that when the station obviously had no intent of having him on the air again.

Actually, he kind of did Hawkeye.

Sean would come on with Chet and Mongo on the Bears pregame show every Sunday.

North says he'll show up very soon. Yeah right. You think the other major stations want that BAD pub especially with his rep and all of the Imus stuff? No way will a station Manager put their ass on the line in todays market to give him a gig. They will be fools. They also know how he will be when things go bad by blaming MANAGEMENT on the air. He WILL embarrass that station and the ratings will slip further.

WOULD ANYONE WANT THAT SHIT?

Right. PDs see what Pappy turned down from the Score. They see his ratings. They all have to figure they could get somebody for cheaper that can do, at least, just as well.

I guess this WLS thing keeps getting mentioned. I don't ever listen to their shows but I think it's just Pappy using WLS. I don't think there is anything there. What are they gonna do? Give him a New/Politics show after he failed with this at the Score.

Oddly, they could give him a sports talk show. I believe Tommy Williams has a sports show on a station that doesn't have an all-sports format.

I agree though, a PD shouldn't want a host who frequently calls him out in public. That was an unusual aspect of the old Score that Goose sort of assumed the "Mr Carlson" (WKRP) doofus personna, and subsequent PDs also got the same deal.

The PDs in town all read Mariotti's summary of Pappy. You can hate Jay but that article was factual. After reading that why would any PD want to take him on?

Well, PDs can be stupid. We all know that. So anything is possible. I'm just glad he's no longer on the Score. I don't listen to WLS anyway but Pappy would fail there I'm sure.

He's got a face for radio, so TV is out
He's a moron, so a talk show on any subject is out
He's a clown, so maybe the circus is in
Maybe he can become Todd Stroger's spokesman, that would be entertaining

He's made too many attacks on management to be worth the trouble - especially given his less than stellar ratings. If he did halfway decent numbers, someone would take a chance - but with his track record, he's not worth it.

A few months back I suggested that he would team up with Joe Gentile at WJJG ( all Gentile radio). It doesn't seem to far fetched if Joe has the money, Mike would end up there 'driving" the bus.

I find the WLS thing funny. Seems like every radio personality uses them for leverage whether it's true or not.

I'm sure they will replace Don and Roma with Pappy, or pair him up with Roe Conn.

Jiggs and Hampton would be the worst score show ever. Book it.

I can't see Roe agreeing to this unless they pay him double-digit millions.

With two weeks left on the format at community-based WLUW-FM (88.7), the exodus is on.

More than a dozen longtime disc jockeys have bailed out as owner Loyola University nears its July 1 date to regain control of the station and turn it over to its new School of Communication for instructional purposes.

I guess Pappy would have to enroll as a professor of something or other to get airtime there, so if you're keeping score at home (or if you're Keeping Score at home,) cross WLUW off your list of possible stations.

I think a search needs to be done. After four days of Mully and Handley, it's not going to work for me. I understand maybe there's an adjustment period, but I've never been a fan of theirs and it's just a style I don't enjoy.
I had a lot more fun listening to mornings on the score last week than I have this week.
Jiggets and Hampton? Dan Hampton is the worst broadcaster I have ever heard. And posted earlier, he can't string a stream of thoughts together and communicate them in a coherent way. I don't know why that name would be mentioned...

This thread came up in Google on a search I did which had no CSFMB references within it. Beardown hit it on the head:
