This looks kinda fishy! Because normally when a radio personality loses their job or their contract isn't renewed. They become non-persons! Just disappear. When North's name is gone from the Score's webpage I will be a believer.

As Dan Savage says in his Chicago Reader Savage Love Column: DTMFA! (it stands for Dump The Mother Fucker Already)

Since Felicia Middlebrooks used Jesse Jackson against CBS - who can Mike North use?!

WSCR has given Mike North a paid one week time out.

Time to think it over.

Who needs whom more?

It doesn't seem like WSCR is missing a beat this week so far.

I'm going to presume that Mike's announcement is a publicity stunt. He'll take his couple-three weeks off, sign Score's offer, and, as Rock ques up Dean Martin, announce to everyone who wants to listen that some out of town stations approached him with double the money, but he's a Chicago guy, his spit is on this sidewalks, his urine is on the alley dumpsters, his heart is at the Gibsons, and he decided to stay with the Score and his listeners.

I think Mancow tried this same tactic. How did it work out for him?

I listen to North somewhat frequently and until the announcement is made, anything is pure speculation. It's all news and media and hype.

A few things I will say about him though. I don't know him at all but these are just my observations.

I think he has a good show but IMO, he has made his contract talks too public. The one thing a person can control is their own conduct and if someone is writing bad things about him, the best he could've done was just ignore it and move on. Like a few others have mentioned on this board, I have very little sympathy for people who are offered six figures and have a problem with it. I'd take that job in a heartbeat as I'm sure many of you will and many of you (us) have just as good of credentials. Of course, I don't work in the industry so I don't have a point of reference. I'm just a regular guy (something North purports to be) so when the whining and self-congratulating begins, he loses me.

He is a terrible interviewer. He constantly talks over anyone he interviews. He is not a very active listener. If you listen to one of his interviews, while the person is answering he either talks over them or starts to say something almost as if he is already moving on and has tuned out the answer. Perfect example is when he had Jeff Schwartz (I think) on last year talking about the disco demolition anniversary. He would ask Jeff a question or ask Jeff to tell him a story and then he proceeded to cut him off and answer the question or finish the story for him. What did he need him there for?

He needs to hit the post a little better in the jag bag / kudos segments. Example, he does the live read and says something like "So R Kelley you get the..." then the bed plays "and that was the Mike North morning show Kudos of the day." Very sloppy for a Chicago market. I'd flunk out of broadcasting school with that delivery.

It was a drag when they let Annie go. It doesn't seem like she was a favorite according to other postings on this board but she was the counterpoint to Mike and Fred's point and she made some very intelligent points sometimes. I liked her. I'm not saying Mike and Fred never do but there were times where I thought Fred was going to have a stroke because he got so wound up on an opinion she gave on something. She gave the morning show a touch of class. I've never met her so these are only my perceptions as a listener. She wasn't a sychophant, she had good things to say but if she wasn't in agreement, she was shouted down. It had to be frustrating. Jen is terrible, her commercials for that one restaurant sound like she is reading for a funeral home. I doubt if I went to that restaurant "Chef whateverhisname is" would share a toast with my family. Then again, I wouldn't go to a place like that to begin with but her reads wouldn't make me run out and try it either. Jen is more along the lines of the sychophant and after Annie left, they had someone they could harass with innuendo and double entendres. I like that stuff once in a while but when it is so constant, it gets stale real quickly.

Mike is like a Lou Costello type. He can be very amusing and entertaining but he needs a Bud Abbott to keep him in check (you could also throw a Curly to Moe and Larry comparison as well). Left to his own devices, he can be out of control once in a while and that is where he loses me as a listener.

Again, these are just my observations as a part time listener. I don't know any of these people and don't wish any ill on them either. We'll all know soon enough.

I can see we won't be getting along, but welcome to the board.

Agree with everything you say except Annie. She was supposed to be counterpoint to the meatball opinions, but it really didn't work out that way. Not forceful enough a delivery; Mike not wanting the show to go that way; Mike not having opinions on things Annie could argue against... Anyway, that experiment failed and she became the talkative newsreader (like Fred was the talkative sportscaster)

Actually, Annie came across as an arrogant "I'm better than those who play fantasy football, but NASCAR IS AWESOME" moron. I can't stand anyone who has that attitude of "I've got better taste than you."

Thanks!!

Nah, I think we'll get along fine good dolphin. I'm just stating my opinion and I don't get too hotheaded about these things not to get along with someone about theirs. I'm always interested in reading others points of view and their perceptions of things. You all have some good and fun things to say.

My observation with Annie was that they couldn't jack her around the way the did Jen which I found quite distracting when I listened. Mainly because I don't think Jen added any value to the show. Her live reads and commercials were quite painful to my ears. I remember some moments where Annie was stating her opinion on something and Fred almost blew a vein open. It's funny how people react and get so wound up.
