Hello Everyone:

First, just want to say hi. I'm a big fan of this "chat board" as North would call it. I've been a lurker for years. I used to be a big fan of the Score and a regular caller, but for the past 5 years I've seen (heard) the quality go down at the Score dramatically. It started with the creation of North's morning show as he was way out of his element (if North has to be on radio it should be on a format like the Wise Guys which requires a lot less disipline and structure than a morning show). Also, I just can't take Bernie's arrogance anymore so I vowed that I will never call the show again. Murph's alright but it's Cubs, Cubs, Cubs, '69, '69, '69 all show long. He could be talking about the Bears and he'll find some way to link it to the Cubs. Anyway, I wish the Score would get better, I really miss its heyday.

Having said all of that, does anyone know where T-Dub Tommie Williams is right now? One of the worst decisions the Score Management made was to take local programming off of the late night hours. I miss Grobber too. It was good to hear him on the North show.

Anyway, good to meet you guys. I enjoy the jokes and sarcasism on this "chat board". Some of you guys are brilliant.

Sincerely,

Mike from Milwaukee

if this really is Mike from Milwaukee, call B&B when Bernsie is not in if he pains you that badly. I'm a big fan of your calls. Tommy is in Indiana and Les still shows up on this board from time to time...

I think there are two "Milwaukee Mike" guys that have called the Score. One is the drunk who would call B&B from his garage. He was always confused, weird and drunk.

There was also another one. I think this is the other guy. Don't think the drunk Milwaukee Mike could type that well. I don't think he has a computer either.

I don't know which Mike you want me to be. But Beardown is correct, their are two of us. I'm the latter in Beardown's post. There is another "Mike from Milwaukee" that called the Score too. I have not heard him for a while. But, I also called the Score as "Mike from Milwaukee" because that is who I am and where I'm from. Mostly called B&B and Murph. I have not called the Score since speaking to Stoney on the Murph show about 3 months ago.

Sincerely,

Mike from Milwaukee

I think Tommy Williams is working at a low power station in northwest Indiana these days. Tommy & Les Grobstein actually hosted a weekend show very briefly at ESPN Radio 1000 many years ago, and came up with quite a soundbite that I think "MJH" uses near the top of the hour sometimes coming out of a break. "We have a failure...to entertain!" he said. As for Les, he's on the ABC Radio payroll as far as I know, but gets occasional face time on "CPS Sports Edition" @ 7a Sundays on WWME 23 "Me TV". Les is on that segment called "What are you Talking About?" near the end of the show, and it doesn't necessarily have to do with high school sports.

nuts...well, I was hoping for the former, but I'm sure you're a cool guy. Welcome aboard. And Stone left Murph longer than 3 months ago, didn't he?

Well, my last call ever on the Score sometime during the Cubs season. It was in the late Spring (could have been May or June). Sometime after Stone was hired. He was on Murph. I complimented Stone on his amazing 1979 season and then asked him if he recalled the time (during 1979) when his catcher (when he was pitching) faked an intentional walk sign with 2 strikes on the batter and then quickly got back in the crouch. Stone then threw a fastball down the middle and struck the guy out. I asked Stone if this was still legal?

Well, in typical Stone fashion he was a complete dick to me (probably because the exalted Stone is just so much more intelligent than I, or so he thought). He stated that, "Of course it was and why wouldn't it be" and he swore that he never/ever faked an intentional walk. He then cut on me for asking the question! I told him I had the video and I would send it. Then Murph said something stupid to me and laughed. At that time Murph was still kissing the exalted Stoneys a$$. After that, I decided never to call the Score again.

Anyway, a big problem at the Score is that some of the hosts talk down to the callers. I hear it all the time on the Score. It happened to me once and that's all it took. I don't hear that on 1000 WMVP, but of course most of their shows are national. One thing I will say, as unprofessional and unpolished as North was/is I never heard him do that to a caller. To emailers yes, but not to callers.

Sincerely,

Mike from Miltown

^^^^Where is the "Sincerely, Mike from Milwaukee" at the end of that post?^^^^

Geez, 4 posts into his CSFMB career, and he's already painfully inconsistent.

I remember that call and yes, Stone acted like the spinless know-it-all twerp he is and danced around it. Murph at least goes after him now, although Murph's no great shakes either...
